Q
Recently, using Mind Powers, whatever I desire is given to me. Until recently though, I seemed to feel that people were getting on my nerves a lot, and on my second day of work I was an hour late because I got off the bus at the wrong stop and had to walk for 30 minutes. I almost got fired at the end of the day. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I was thinking maybe you could help me on this? I gotta tell you though that what has happened to me in the past 2 weeks, I would not have achieved in the next 4 months without Mind Power. Thanks.
Johannesburg, South Africa
A Congratulations for using Mind Powers successfully. This will give you wonderful confidence in using it in all areas of your life. Recognize that in life there are many experiences, some joyful, some unpleasant, and that life is always reflecting to us the energy and vibration of who and what we are. If you find that people are getting on your nerves a lot, then look within yourself to find out why this is. Are you being too harsh with people? Maybe you need more compassion. Maybe you need to relax more. There are many possibilities, but use this as an opportunity to look within yourself and see why it is that you are feeling like this. Once again, congratulations on your success. And all the best.
Q
It seems that the Universe actually rewards those who cheat others, cheat on their taxes etc. etc. Please explain this apparent paradox.
Toronto, Canada
A
There is no paradox at all. You can be quite assured that the universe knows exactly what it is doing. And while it might seem on the surface that in some circumstances people who cheat or do other dishonest things do indeed prosper, I can assure you that is only on the surface.
We are multidimensional. We live in many dimensions simultaneously — the physical, the spiritual, the emotional, and the mental. And all these faculties, all these worlds and dimensions, influence and affect us in different ways. So while a person who cheats another person might indeed seem to prosper on the material and the physical level, we do not know what has been done to that person’s soul, to his psyche, to his conscience. Nor do we know the karma that has been incurred as a result of that event.
So the universe knows exactly what it's doing, and that’s why people who know and understand this always live their lives with the highest integrity.
Q
You become what you constantly think about your self, right? And your thoughts can influence your emotions. But in your sleep you do not think. How can it be then, that some mornings we wake up in a bad mood, for no apparent reason?
Germany
A
In your sleep there is a tremendous amount of mental activity going on. Each of us dreams on average between five and six times every evening. You might not always remember your dreams, but nonetheless, through research and the monitoring of people during sleep, it has been established conclusively that on average we do have at least five or six dreams per night. What happens during these dreams is that the subconscious is doing one of two things:
For further information, I suggest you read the chapter on Dreams in the book Mind Power Into the 21st Century.
Q
I just don't understand. When I started reading your book I was excited and for a week and a half I had positive thoughts racing through my head. I had fantastic visualizations and I felt like a new person. This week, however, I am totally depressed and my mind is negative and even though I am trying to think positively, my brain is saying, “It won't work,” “It is not going to happen,” “You are useless.” I am almost suicidal. It is digging away at me so thoroughly. What have I done wrong? Are my visualizations and affirmations not right for me? Is my heart telling my head what to do?
New Zealand
A
What you're going through is not that unusual. It is a natural reaction to working with Mind Powers. What happens quite often in the beginning stages is that we are intoxicated and excited with the new processes, and we become very inspired and enthused. However, old thinking habits and problems can begin resurfacing, especially if you have only been reading the book and haphazardly doing the techniques.
What I suggest that you do is to first of all read the Topic of the Month on Eliminating Negatives. It will assist you immensely. Also set up a daily program for yourself, where you actually work with the techniques for maybe ten or fifteen minutes a day. It is not enough to just read the book, and it is not enough just to have positive thoughts racing around in your head whenever they come. One must actually apply the techniques methodically, persistently and daily.
And of course, one has up days and one has down days. One does not necessarily take off like a rocket. What you're going through is what I commonly refer to as a dry period, a period where nothing seems to be working. These negative thoughts are the only thoughts going through your head. Always remember: it has nothing to do with your reality, only your own personal thoughts. You are now in the process of changing and managing your thoughts. So keep with it and you will move through this phase.
Q
Thanks for a really great and informative book. Out of the many self-help books I've read, yours would have to be the most effective and practical. I've always been interested in the mind and its functions, and I was wondering if you can develop your mind power enough to defy the laws of nature? What are some incredible rewards that can be accomplished? Is there truth to things like magic and telekinesis?
Australia
A You can never defy the laws of nature. Mind Power is working within the sometimes unexplainable and misunderstood laws that constantly exist for us. Everything in the world is made up of vibrations of energy, and our thoughts are also vibrations of energy, and so Mind Power works well within the laws of the universe. Things like magic and telekinesis, even though we don't understand them, also work within the laws of nature, working with different dimensions and vibrations.
Q
Please expand on your views and attitude towards the validity or otherwise of the use of astrology in our lives.
Johannesburg, South Africa
A Astrology is a science and study that has its roots in ancient Egyptian times. There are many different views on the validity of astrology. I think if you look in the newspaper to ascertain what your sign means on any given day, you’re not going to get too much information there. It’s much too generic. However, there are good astrologers, and there is no question that one’s sign and time and place of birth do seem to have an influence on different aspects of one’s life. You can learn things from astrology. However, I also want to warn you that there is also a tremendous placebo effect that happens when one looks at astrology. But if you feel inclined to pursue it, it certainly has some validity.
Q
I have recently been diagnosed with an illness and am using Mind Power techniques to try to heal my body. My question is this: what is your view on becoming involved with a support group for an illness? You have talked about associating with successful people if one wants to be successful, so does this mean that one should associate with healthy people if one wants to overcome an illness — in other words will it drag me down to be involved in a support group where there are others with the same illness? One could look at it another way and say that people who attend a support group are all people who are taking a positive step to fight their illness and help others in the same boat as themselves, and that to soak up that energy would be beneficial.
New Zealand
A
This is a very good question, and I had to think about it for several minutes before I responded. First of all, let me say that not all support groups are created equally. I would suggest that you go to the support group and see how you feel when in it. When you come out of the meetings, how do you feel? Do you feel uplifted? Do you feel positive? Or do you feel depressed? Do you feel like there’s no hope? What kind of energy happens in the group? What is the collective attitude of the group? Is it a positive upbeat attitude or is it one of people just complaining about their illnesses?
Also, do they understand and practice Mind Power techniques? It might be an excellent opportunity for you to introduce these techniques to the people in the group. What do they think about the powers of the mind and the ability of the powers of the mind to heal? So I think it's a choice that you have to make after seeing how you feel being within the group. It certainly doesn't hurt to have support from other people.
Q
I would like to ask about using a date in Mind Power exercises. Say if I want something to occur by a fixed date, should I include that date in my affirmations/visualizations? Also, do you think if I use a date which is very near to the day I start using Mind Powers for that goal, will it actually make the process of manifestation faster? Or it will it have no effect? In some of my goals, attaching the date becomes necessary, so how should I do this?
Sri Lanka
A There is no clear answer to this question. There are two schools of thought about using deadlines to achieve goals. One is that it is very necessary to use deadlines for goals, the other that it can be counterproductive to use deadlines and goals. I actually don’t have a hard and fast rule. If you feel that a deadline for your goal is absolutely imperative, then by all means use it. However, you did say that the deadline you're using is quite soon after starting your Mind Power exercises. Mind Powers are not magic. They work with the energy and powers of the universe, and quite often these things need time to manifest. So artificially placing a quick deadline on a goal doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to achieve that goal any quicker. I think it’s a matter of what feels right for you.
