Q
I have just started reading your book for the 3rd time and I seem to find something new each time. My question is, where in Sydney can I purchase your audio tapes (or preferably on CD)? I have visited the larger bookstores and they just don't have a clue.
Sydney, Australia
A
The Mind Power book will give you new information every time you read it. There is an old Chinese saying, “If you read a book a thousand times, you’re bound to understand it.” While a slight exaggeration, the point is that one reading is rarely sufficient for a book with so much information.
Regarding tapes (and as of next year, CD’s), they are not available in any retail outlet — only on the web. We have an excellent selection and will be adding new titles next year as well.
Q
I love your book, Mind Power into the 21st Century. I have received much insight from your work, John, but "help", I’m stuck on a particular issue. On the subject of both success and prosperity, the work you have written, as well as that of Joseph Murphy and others, seems to suggest, as I have always believed, that the subconscious mind, once impressed with an idea or an image by faith and repetition, can and will bring the desired results into reality.
My dilemma is one where I am confused about the idea of producing wealth, and doing what I love in life. Mind power seems to say that if you impress the idea of wealth upon your subconscious mind regularly, and expect it, you will see wealth manifested in your life. Yet other wisdom seems to suggest that the only way to realize wealth and financial security is to either author a book, or invest wisely. I am torn between two careers.
I am a certified hypnotherapist. I love the work, especially that of assisting others in the experience of their own subconscious abilities. I am also a writer, yet without the passion for the actual writing process. I feel much too isolated while writing, and feel my true calling is working with people, assisting them as I do in a therapeutic setting. While this provides a comfortable living, others would tell me that once my work stops, my income does as well, much like that of all working professionals.
Can I truly do what it is I love, which is to practice therapy, and completely rely upon programming my subconscious mind for financial security beyond my ability to produce income with my hands? Do we really need to come up with a million dollar idea? Or can the power of our minds attract wealth and financial gain into our lives with repeated programming?

A
There are thousands of ways you can become financially successful, not just one or two. Beware of limiting yourself by believing that writing is your only option. When you open up your thoughts, new possibilities become apparent.
I believe passionately that the way to financial success (as well as personal happiness) is to follow your call. (See Follow The Call - past Monthly Topic on subject). Pursue what you believe in and keep imprinting abundance into your subconscious. Doors will open and you will be led to do the right thing in the right way.
I wish you lots of success.
Q
Loved your book. When looking for change in your life do you do it one step at a time or can you focus on other areas at the same time. Will this confuse the subconscious mind?
Las Vegas, Nevada
A
There is an old maxim in Mind Power that you crawl before you walk. You walk before you run. I always advise my students to start with one or two things at first and focus on them. After you have practiced mind power for a while and have gained both confidence and proficiency in the techniques, you can work on more goals. But it is always a mistake to try to work on twenty different things at once. It is too much to focus on and you’ll end up achieving nothing.
Rome was not built in a day. Prioritize your goals and pick the ones that are most important to you.
Q
I read a book about the power of subconscious. It says that every thought that my subconscious will receive will happen in real life, including the woman that I want.
Can this really happen?
Israel
A The short answer is no. You have many thoughts that reach the subconscious which have negligible effects. The thoughts that will work for you are those that have been repeated over and over again with feeling and details. Once these thoughts have been imprinted, they act as a magnet attracting to the individual the people, circumstances and events that match the images within. For more detail, read the chapter on the subconscious mind in Mind Power Into the 21st Century.

Q
I'm 26 years old and I first read your Mind Power book just over a year ago, and have recently just read the book The Practice of Happiness. After reading the first book, I began trying to use mind power techniques and I felt that, over the period of a year, I achieved great results with it, such as work opportunities always presenting themselves, a 7 week overseas holiday which I would never thought I could afford, and finding a partner who I am so truly grateful for and happy with.
However, I still feel that I am having trouble putting mind power techniques into practice.
Firstly, I tend not to be a very good self-starter and find it difficult to find the time to practice, and secondly, I am always overwhelmed by a lack of direction and passion in my life.
I have always felt if I knew what I wanted to do in life, I could put the effort into it and
achieve highly and be happy. However, I seem to lack passion or motivation for any particular direction in my life (a career choice), and I feel I can't focus my thinking towards any specific option, as I do not desire anything enough. The only real desire I have is the desire to be happy!
I would like to dedicate my time and effort in life to something I am passionate about and yet I don't know what that is. I have been extremely lucky in the past with the career opportunities that have come my way. However, I always end up feeling unsatisfied eventually, which eventually causes me to feel quite depressed and I change jobs again.
How do I find a career path using mind power techniques that will bring passion and direction into my life?
New Zealand
A
First of all you should congratulate yourself on your past success using Mind Powers. You have used it successfully and it is no longer just a concept or theory — you know it works. This is a big step forward in continuing to use it.
It might also be of assistance to know that most people have difficulty in doing mind power regularly and consistently. It’s easy to do it once in a while or for short periods, but far more difficult to do it daily. Momentum comes from reminding yourself again and again how well your life works when you do do it daily.
You are right to feel dissatisfied at pursuing anything less than your passion. Finding the correct career choice does not happen overnight. It didn’t happen for me until I was in my early thirties. Life has a way of unfolding in the most mysterious ways when you listen to your voice within and find your passion.
Q
This is about the request in your July topic to hear from anyone having a dream that has helpedhim or her. I recently experienced that. I had decided to attend massage therapy school, which began in July, and although I felt I’d made the right choice, I had a nagging feeling that it wasn’t the right time. Lots of things were going on and I didn’t think I was prepared financially (or in any other way) to take on a lot more in my life, so I decided to postpone school for 6 months.
I fretted over this since I was simultaneously feeling a sense of urgency to embark on a new career. Finally I took the time to repeatedly tell my intuition that I trusted that it would tell me if I was making the right decision to postpone things. Within a week I had a dream that, once I awakened from it, gave me an instant sense of rightness and peace. Basically my dream showed me as being in the line of danger and yet I symbolically avoided it without any harm to me. This dream was incredibly clear even though it was filled with symbolism. I knew without a doubt that I had relaxed enough to let my intuition come through and affirm that I had indeed made the right decision.
You have mentioned that sense of peace which lets one know that it’s truly your intuition making itself known. That wonderful feeling was very strong, and it’s a great thing to experience.
Thank you for all your guidance and your practice of letting each of us learn it for ourselves.

Q
I have read your book Mind Power in the 21st Century and found it exciting. I have also read many other books, and many of them talk about how circumstances and events that occur in their lives are a result of a “universal network.” By sending out signals, you attract what you are thinking about. Is this true, or is it that these events occur all the time around you but now you are in a different frame of mind?
USA
A
There are two schools of thought concerning the things that happen to us in our life. One is that everything is random and there is no relationship between what we think and what happens to us. The second is that we attract our circumstances in life by what we think and believe. It’s no surprise that I belong to the second group. Having said that, I’m not so naive to believe that everything is black and white and neatly packaged such that it does not also allow for unknown and mysterious factors to enter into the formula.
I have been teaching Mind Powers for over 20 years and practicing it myself for 25 years. During this time I have had the opportunity to personally instruct over 100,000 people. I get immense feedback from past students and can say with 100% certainty that our thoughts influence our reality.
If you think of our reality as a giant web of energy, and every thought as a vibrating force within this energy, you can get a big picture of what is happening. Our subconscious mind is the link to this universal powerhouse, and we reach our subconscious through repetition and feeling. Understanding this, we can direct our thoughts in a way that attracts to us the conditions and circumstances we desire. We have far greater power to change and influence what happens to us than we might suspect. Our thoughts are the key.
I hope this helps to answer your question.
