Q
Please tell me, with no job, experience, or capital, how can we improve our financial position with the good jobs not being available to us?
Perth, Australia
A
There are many people who have become very wealthy with little education, no financial backing, and seemingly no opportunities to get ahead. What you'll find is that your opportunities open up when you open up your thoughts.
Right now your consciousness seems to be focused on all the reasons why you can't be successful, and they may seem very real and relevant to you. However, when you change your thoughts, when you change your attitude, when you begin working with mind powers, you will find that you will begin to draw new opportunities to you.
If you are looking to be financially successful, then what you need to do is take it one step at a time. I would suggest that you start visualizing yourself in a job, something that you enjoy doing, something that pays you reasonably well, and use this as your first step towards abundance. As you begin vibrating abundance, abundance must come to you. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and the beginning of your financial security begins with you changing your thoughts and beliefs.
I would also sincerely encourage you to purchase the Programming for Prosperity tape, which is available on our Web site.
Q
Not a question, but a thank you. I was first exposed to Mind Power when you gave a free lecture in Wellington, New Zealand about a decade ago. I was moved and inspired by your words, and decided to test my mind the next day.
I used to ride my 24-speed mountain bike to work every day. Wellington is very hilly; it would take me 10 minutes to get to work down the hill and 45 minutes to get home. The ride home was almost entirely uphill, and I would spend most of my time in first gear, the easiest.
I decided to try "Mind Power" by convincing myself, as I was riding up the hill, that I would ride the entire hill in second gear, and that it would be much easier than I expected. I figured that if it even worked a little bit, and I got up half the hill in second gear, I would have achieved something I previously thought impossible.
I'm sure it won't surprise you to learn that I made it all the way up the hill in second gear, with energy to spare. The next day I tried the same experiment in third gear, and got 80% of the way to the top before I switched back to second.
This was an incredible lesson, which completely changed my life. It showed me that there was an enormous amount of power inside me, that was only blocked by my own programming and mental attitudes. If I could believe in what seemed impossible, then maybe it could become possible.
Since then Mind Power has become a fundamental part of my life, and I've used it to great success in fulfilling my dreams. At the age of 23 I achieved all my lifetime financial goals when I listed the Internet company I'd founded on the Australian Stock Exchange. The next year, I lost almost all the money when the stock price tanked. As well as the loss of paper fortune came public humiliation and ridicule for my failure. But to me it never felt like a failure: I had a dream, and I'd spent so many years believing in myself and my dream that I never doubted I'd get there - it was all just more obstacles, more tests. I'm happy to say that over the last 2 years the success has come back, and then some. (And, of course, I'm so much stronger and wiser thanks to all those mistakes!)
I've just finished reading The Practice of Happiness, a book that has come at just the right time for me. I couldn't put it down.
Thank you John for your wisdom, your passion, your insight, and your purity.

A Thank you very much for your sharing your story. It is always nice to inspire other people with your results. You've done an excellent job. I'm sure that you're going to have a very wonderful and successful life. I'm happy that you enjoyed my new book, The Practice of Happiness.
Q
Some authors suggest making your own visualization tape, with music, and using this method. What do you think?
Toronto, Canada
A
Yes, making a visualization tape whether it is with music or not can be a very powerful way to help imprint the messages that you wish into your mind. Just by playing the tape over and over again you will naturally hear the messages and they will imprint into you. That's also one of the reasons why we have put together the whole series of twelve-minute Visualization and Affirmation tapes that we make available on this Web site.
Regarding music - that is a whole different subject in itself and different music causes different vibrations of energy to happen within you. Choosing the correct music is a science in itself and we have spent years working on that with some excellent results. But regarding taping and playing back the messages to you, it's definitely a process that I approve of.
Q
I recently attended one of your free seminars and was very excited to learn about the power of our minds. I have been practicing your techniques of repeating and visualizing goals/aspirations. I have been diligent about doing it every day but find that when I am practicing, negative thoughts and the doubts at times intrude (that annoying, doubting voice that says - this is a load of #$$# - do you really believe this is going to work?). I really want this to work for me and my question is how do I get rid of the doubts and negativity that creeps into my mind when practicing mind power?
Vancouver, Canada
A
Unfortunately, that annoying little voice is a natural part of our psyche that seems to like to sabotage us when we start working on new goals. The best thing to do is to just ignore it and practice the techniques. Usually this happens only at the beginning stages of mind powers. Once your mind becomes convinced that you are determined to succeed at your goals, and that you will work with these techniques every day, the voice tends to lessen considerably. So don't put too much stock in the little annoying voice, it is there; ignore it and imprint the new things that you desire for your life.
I'm happy that you attended one of my free seminars. I certainly do my utmost in those two-hour seminars to give out as much information as I possibly can. When I have a live audience in front of me I become very inspired and enthused to share this powerful information. Unfortunately I don't get to tour everywhere, but you were one of the lucky ones to attend one of my seminars and I'm happy that you got valuable information from it.

I don't really have a question, but a good news story I thought I'd share with you. A few days ago, one of the cats at the vet clinic I work at came down very ill. He was so sick that he couldn't really move. The vets were having a hard time getting his blood to clot and couldn't get any fluids in him. He wasn't focusing his eyes on anything and looked utterly spaced out. I went back to see him several times a day, petting him and giving him attention. I kept telling him that he was going to get better, that he was feeling better already.
I started to notice a slight difference in him. He started to focus his attention on me and they were able to get a fluid drip into him. Still, the vets were telling us that he would probably not make it. I noticed whenever I talked to him we would kneed with his paw or make some movement to acknowledge me. By the end of the day his eyes looked better. Nevertheless, the vets still thought he wouldn't make it through the night.
I kept thinking and praying all night that he would be fine, and when I went in the morning, he was sitting up, looking alert and perky and was eating.
Today, two days later, he is up and purring, rubbing on me, eating well and looking much better. He is still a little wobbly, but doing so much better. I was the only one who thought he'd make it, but I used the mind power techniques and kept working on him.

Thank you very much for sharing this story with us. I have seen people use their minds countless times to heal individuals as well as pets. Animals pick up on our vibration and energy just the same as do humans, and I have no doubt in my mind that you provided a great assistance in helping this cat to heal itself.
Keep up the good work.
Q
In 1999 I was a student at one of your Cape Town seminars and attended because I was experiencing a major financial problem due to the then poor economic conditions in the country. I have since recovered financially and place a large part of the credit at the door of John Kehoe and his teachings.
Now that things are back to normal, I continue to practice mind power daily. I do, however, have a very serious and expensive goal in mind, and ask John if there is any way that I can "turn up the volume" or "increase the process," so to speak, in order to make this new, rather large and daunting goal/dream a reality?
Cape Town
A
Congratulations on attending my seminars and getting results from them. The wonderful thing about mind power is that it really does work, and the more you understand how to use it, the more proficient you are with it.
What I would suggest is that you acknowledge yourself regularly for the great success that you have had so far, recognizing that since you have already had success, going for a larger goal is no different than going for any other goal. In fact, you now have momentum behind you. So it's not a matter of turning up the volume or increasing the process; it's simply a matter of practicing regularly to manifest this new larger goal.
Actually, in many ways achieving a large goal is just as easy if not easier than achieving a little goal because the larger goal inflames our imagination and helps us to get very excited about it. So it is just a matter of regularly practicing the techniques and I'm sure that you will achieve this new goal, just as you have your other ones.
Q
I'm stuck on a particular issue. On the subject of both success and prosperity, the work you have written, as well as that of Joseph Murphy and others, seem to suggest, as I have always believed, that the subconscious mind, once impressed with an idea by faith and repetition, can and will bring the desired results into reality.
John, my dilemma is one where I am confused about the idea of producing wealth, and doing what I love in life. Mind power seems to say that if you impress the idea of wealth upon your subconscious mind regularly, and expect it, you will see wealth manifested in your life. Yet other wisdom seems to suggest that the only way to realize wealth and financial security is to either author a book, or invest wisely. I am torn between two careers. I am a certified hypnotherapist. I love the work, especially that of assisting others in the experience of their own subconscious abilities. I am also a writer, yet without the passion for the actual writing process. I feel much too isolated while writing, and feel my true calling is working with people, assisting them as I do in a therapeutic setting. While this provides a comfortable living, others would tell me that once my work stops, my income does as well, much like that of all working professionals. Can I truly do what it is I love, which is to practice therapy, and completely rely upon programming my subconscious mind for financial security beyond my ability to produce income with my hands? Do we really need to come up with a million dollar idea? Or can the power of our minds attract wealth and financial gain into our lives with repeated programming?
New York State
A In my working with individuals in the area of prosperity I am never amazed to see the diversity of ways that people have used to make themselves wealthy. There are literally thousands of different ways that one can use one's mind and one's ingenuity to become financially successful. You're not limited to two or three ways. I think first of all you have to start with what do you love to do.
I don't believe that anybody has ever been financially successful by doing something other than what they love. Sure you can get by and have a job and make an income by doing things that you don't love, but if you want to be tremendously successful, find something that you love to do.
Also remind yourself that you have a powerful subconscious mind that will bring you answers and insights into everything that you desire. So you can go to your subconscious and ask it - what do I need to do to become wealthy?
But looking within and discovering what you love, following your passions, working with mind powers, programming yourself with prosperity beliefs, all these things will naturally attract abundance to you. It has to be done regularly and persistently, but if you're clear on your goals. You will attain them. So rather than me giving you the answers, your subconscious has all the answers that you need. But you can be tremendously successful in the work you have chosen. I have no doubts about that.
