Q

I read a book about the power of the subconscious. It says that every thought that my subconscious will receive will happen in real life, including the woman that I want. Can this really happen?

Israel

A The subconscious is so powerful. I try to avoid saying that every time or absolutely or one hundred percent it will manifest reality, because of course there are things that we don't know and understand. And nothing in life is one hundred percent. Having said that, the percentage of results that come from imprinting on the subconscious is so high, literally well over ninety percent, that you can quite confidently assure yourself that if you regularly program the subconscious you will see results. The more that you work with your subconscious, the more effective it will be.

Q

After reading your book on the practise of happiness and various other self-improvement books, I think that the seeds are planted for the growth of a great future. My problem is that there seems to be an important link lost between these books and the biographies of people who have achieved great things in life. Therefore, my question is once I have sown the seeds of happy living, where do I go from there to achieve even greater things?

London, England

A

This is a good question and you're not alone in asking it. One takes life one day at a time. When your priority is to have a happy life, then you practice happiness, but you go within to find out what your calling is, what you should be doing with your life, and to find out what makes your heart leap with joy. Where is your passion? When you follow your passion, you not only live a fun and interesting life, but it also reveals your destiny to you.

Things are revealed to us bit by bit. It's not like we have a vision and understand our life's purpose all at once. It comes to us piece by piece. We take each piece with gratitude, we move on, taking one step at a time. Life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the journey, and with the practices of happiness, with mind power and with a trust in life you will achieve great things.

Q

Your teaching on affirmations is always to affirm in the positive. However, the affirmation, "I have Unlimited powers at my disposal" appears to be a negative statement, similar to "I have no limits to the power at my disposal." My question is: When does the subconscious mind ignore the negative and reinforce the opposite of what we want to imprint, and when does it accept a statement that isn't positive?

Durban, South Africa

A The subconscious mind does not distinguish between negative and positive but will accept whatever we imprint upon it. So it's very important that the messages and words that we use are of a positive nature. Unlimited power is not a negative in any way. It is not limited power, but it is unlimited power. So you are not programming any negativity into your mind at this point. Always use positive statements. Phrase your affirmations in such a way that they are positive, never reinforcing anything negative whatsoever. The same goes for your visualizations and your thoughts. Always make sure that they are positive outcomes of what you want to happen, and then the subconscious will pick up on the rhythm of that and begin manifesting it for you.

Q

I am currently reading Mind Power. I am wondering if I should be using all of these techniques every day or if I should do one or two a day?

New York

A

Congratulations on reading Mind Power Into the 21st Century. It is truly a revolutionary book when one practices the techniques. Having said that, there are many techniques that are outlined in the book and if one should do every single one of them for five minutes every day you would probably end up doing over an hour of work. I like to suggest to my students that you keep your mind power exercises to between fifteen and twenty minutes a day. That seems to be both short enough a time that you can fit it into your practice, and yet long enough that you will see fabulous results from it.

So whatever you can commit to as a daily practice, whether it be even as little as five minutes, or a maximum of up to a half hour, it's up to you to decide which techniques to use in which combination. I might also refer you to the tape and video, Setting Up a Mind Power Program, which explains in detail exactly how one goes about this practice. You can get this and other products on this Web site. Congratulations, once again.

Q

Can mind power be applied to prisoners to change their negative thoughts?

Cape Town, South Africa

A It might be of interest to you to know that we have a special program that has been developed for prisons and has been working successfully now for over ten years. The one thing that people have in prison is a lot of time to think. And if our thoughts are not directed in the right way, it is very easy for us to fall into negative habits and to have these thoughts haunt us. So as in every situation, prison included, the thoughts that we have will help to determine our reality. I'm very pleased that so many people in the prison community have copies of my book, and have attended some of the sessions that we have in various prisons around the world. We believe absolutely in making a difference, and this is one of the ways that we do so.
