Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

February 2002

Q I found your book in the local library after I was told by my doctor that I would probably always have a miserable irritable bowel condition, and I decided I was just not willing to put up with it. Although not yet perfect, the results are so far great, and I have also managed to buy a copy of your book. After a life of negativity, there are so many things to change. I am concentrating on three at the moment and hope I am doing so correctly, but wonder whether I am being too tentative.

Richmond, New Zealand

A Thanks for sharing your story. Thousands of people heal themselves every year using these techniques. May your letter act as an inspiration for others.

Regarding being too tentative, there is an old maxim in mind power, "You crawl before you walk; you walk before you run." It is better to pick just a few things to work on in the beginning, rather than trying to accomplish everything at once. You have your whole life to create and manifest the changes you desire.

Regarding whether you are doing the exercises correctly, that is what this website and all the books, tapes, and videos are for helping the sincere student master this great science.

All the best.

Q John, first I would like to thank you for your great book Mind Power. My situation is this: after a losing a great deal of money on a small business, I am trying to get back on my feet financially. I've accumulated a great deal of debt which I am having a hard time paying off. I am working full time. I am using the techniques in your book, but every now and then I think, "Who am I kidding; it's impossible to get out of this." I know I shouldn't think this way, but it's hard when there are more bills than money. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Etobicoke, Canada

A No matter how diligent you are in trying to focus on your goals, it is inevitable that negative thoughts will sometimes find themselves front and center in your mind. This is normal and no reason to panic or lose hope. You say, "Every now and then I think, Who am I kidding; it's impossible to get out of this.'" The key is not what you think "every now and then," but rather how you think most times. If you have designed a mind power program and are doing it regularly, this will naturally focus and direct your mind towards your desired objectives. When negatives occasionally come, and they will, use the four techniques for eliminating negatives to nullify their toxic effect. Always remember, a negative thought only has power over you if you react to it. When you cease your reacting they have no power. So even though your present situation is that there are more bills than money, this situation will change as you change your thoughts and actions, and you will rebound successfully. Take it day by day, always affirming the power of your thoughts.

Q Can you please provide more information on the management of chronic pain?

South Africa

A I'm not an expert on the management of chronic pain, but I can certainly give you some insights that I have found through the years of working with people. One of the things to recognize with pain is that quite often it is the expectation of pain that is the real culprit, the fear pain of coming back. So what one needs to do is to make friends with the pain. Now I know that this sounds ludicrous, but if one can actually relax into the pain, feel the pain, allow the pain to be there, from there you may be able to find a place where you can be comfortable with the pain. Once you can do this you're not fighting the pain all the time. So if you can get to the point where you are not fighting the pain, where you are one with the pain, then what you will find is that it will not have as much power over you.

Of course, another method of working with pain is to use the techniques of affirmations, visualization and seeding to seed two things. One of the things that you can imagine is yourself at times without pain, or with lessened pain. See yourself handling the pain very well. A wonderful affirmation for any aspect of illness is, "Every day in every way, I'm getting better and better." You might change that slightly and use, "Every day in every way the pain is getting less and less." So be creative with your Mind Power, make friends with your pain and come into a new relationship where you're not fearful of it.

Q I have just begun to use mind power about three days ago. About how long does it take for an affirmation to start taking effect? Like, if I am not normally an ambitious person and I use an affirmation to become ambitious, would that help?

West Virginia, USA

A Congratulations on beginning to use mind power. You will find that this wonderful new science will make a huge difference in your life. I am quite often asked how long it will take to manifest goals when working with mind powers? Whether one uses affirmations or visualization or any other of the techniques, there is a certain amount of time necessary in order for results to manifest in your life. I usually feel that you should start seeing results literally within the first few weeks; sometimes even as quickly as the first few days. Now when I say seeing results I don't mean that if you're trying to be a millionaire, for example, it is going to happen for you overnight, nor within a few weeks or even a few months. But what should happen is that you should begin to see progress and growth towards the goal that you have set for yourself within the first few weeks.

Now you mention that you would like to become ambitious. I would suggest that this is somewhat vague. You will probably be more successful with mind powers if you can be more specific. What does it mean for you to be ambitious? What exactly would you like to achieve in your life? Make some goals for yourself. Break them down into different segments, and then begin working with mind powers and you will achieve those results.

Q I always have a guilty feeling when I think about making a lot of money. I am ok with making a good six figure income and I do; but something blocks me from thinking it would be ok to make millions. I know that I would use it for good use and to help others less fortunate, how can I get rid of this feeling?
Aliso Viejo, CA

A Your success helps many people, you failure helps no one. It is your duty and responsibility to succeed. You are now making six figures, congratulations. How about using some of the money now to help those less fortunate. If you tithe (give away a percent of your income) regularly you will see the benefit and good that money can accomplish. If you tithe 10% then that means $10,000 out of every $100,000 goes to worthwhile causes. How about giving away $100,000 a year? That means you need to make 1 million. Build your successes and financial achievement with values that help and assist others. I'm now writing a new book on money and success and I'll post more on this topic on the web over the next few months.

Q Do you think Jesus Christ used mind power?

Australia

A The Bible is filled with mind power references. Here is a direct quote from The New Testament. Jesus is speaking:

"Whatsoever things ye pray for and ask for, believing that ye have received it, ye will receive it."

Notice the change in tense. You have to believe you HAVE received it first before you WILL receive it. Sounds an awful lot like visualization to me.

Q I play the game of rugby every Saturday. Is it worth visualizing at the start of each week how I want to play the game the following Saturday? Does visualizing for a few days before you want something to happen work?

United Kingdom

A All the great athletes Martin Crowe (a personal friend) at cricket, Michael Jordan at basketball, Tiger Woods at golf − use mind power to increase their performance.

Your visualizations will set the tone for how you play. Each week will complement the one before it, and you will soon build up a bank of powerful images of you being proficient on the field. Don't forget affirmations too. You will see a noticeable improvement in your skills using these techniques.
