Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

Q I have realized the power of choice in my life to a high degree. One area eludes me however... fearful feelings. Once they start, just ignoring, turning my attention elsewhere doesn't work. I can still feel that pit-of-the-stomach fear until I deal with it. I don't WANT to deal with it; it isn't worthy of my attention. The main thing I fear is not being able to dismiss the fear whenever it occurs. There is nothing outside myself that makes me fearful, it is merely my inability to choose whenever the fear hits. Giving it attention, I KNOW, just makes it more powerful. What wisdom have I not yet learned that can give me the power of choice even over fearful feelings? Once I learn how to deal with this obstacle permanently (I often find temporary remedies that I think will work every time, but they don't), I feel I will be unstoppable in anything I do. Thank you.

A Sometimes we're fearful and sometimes we're not. Everybody has fear to deal with at one point or another, but it sounds like yours is somewhat obsessive. Two suggestions:

1. Rather than fighting the fear each and every time it comes, why not sometimes allow it to be with you and just observe it. It's only fear, that's all. It only has as much power as you give it, i.e., how you react to it.

2. Check my topic of the month on Eliminating Negatives. It has excellent techniques for eliminating negatives, fear included.

Q I remember when I was young, about 7 years old, I had a nightmare. I was running away from an assailant who was trying to kill me. While running I "feared" not getting away in time, I "feared" he might "catch me," and then he did...

I'm sure all of us have had similar dreams. Very recently I've been noticing that I can use mind power techniques to influence the outcome of bad dreams by visualising the desired outcome. Now I wonder if all this time, those dreams where trying to show me that I have control.

Cape Town, South Africa

A Dreams are messages from the subconscious and as such should be listened to. (See the chapter on dreams in Mind Power Into the 21st Century.) Dream interpretation is like learning a language, and comes with practice.

Why, I wonder, would you want to influence the outcome of your dreams? That is like trying to change the messages in a letter that has been sent to you. Far better to attempt to understand who/what is the assailant and what he/it is trying to kill or change. Dreams are almost always about yourself and your present situation. Approach your dreams in this way and you'll be better served and get more value from them.

Q I want to be a professional singer. People, including record producers, say that I am excellent, but I am lost in time. I wish I could have a hand or someone who could help me on this because I am losing time and patience.

Portugal

A You know what you want and that is a huge start. What you need to do now is begin to set up a mind power program, as I outlined in my last three monthly topics.

Besides seeing yourself as a professional singer you can also attract the necessary people needed to help you achieve this goal. You could, for example, affirm to yourself, "I attract the right people who will help me," many times daily. You could take on a new belief that you will meet these people regularly. You could visualize people who are well connected helping you. So don't lose time and patience. Get your mind power program working for you daily, and lots of synchronicity and fortuitous events will begin happening.

Q Considering the fact that everything we think and do is governed by pleasure and pain, in other words we will only do something if we believe that it will result in reduced pain and or increased pleasure (this includes emotional and physical pain/pleasure), then is it not true that visualization and seeding techniques work only if we believe that the things we are visualizing, if they were to become a reality, would mean less pain and more pleasure in our lives than we currently have?

Durban, South Africa

A Visualization and seeding techniques work because these thought forms you create vibrate within the matrix of reality attracting these circumstances to you. The pleasure/pain aspect you speak of influences our choices, but has no effect on why or how they manifest.
