Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

January 2003

Q I am just starting out using the visualisation and seeding techniques, and I have several areas in my life I would like to change. Is it best to just focus on the one area or can I focus on a few areas at the same time?

Auckland, New Zealand

A This is a common question and I usually answer by saying, "You crawl before you walk. You walk before you run." In other words don't try and do everything at once. A common error with Mind Power beginners is to try to do too much. When you do this you disperse the energy. While you're not limited to just one area, you shouldn't try to achieve a dozen goals at once. Pick one or two areas where you want to apply Mind Power and focus on these. As you achieve these goals you can move on to others.

As well, a bonus in using Mind Power is that you often have a spill over effect in all areas of your life. So even areas you haven't been working on will benefit. As you get more proficient in these techniques you can increase the number of goals you work on simultaneously.

Q Could you tell me if you ever do chat sessions on the Internet please? If so, where and when?

New Zealand

A We have just returned from a tour and are now back in Vancouver. I'm looking at ways of making this information more available to everyone. I think a chat session on the Internet is a great idea. So keep checking our Web site, as some time in the next couple of months we will do something like this, and we'll let everyone know. Great idea - I've been thinking of it as well.

Q Sometimes I get too lazy to do verbal affirmations repeatedly, but I sure enjoy just visualizing my goals, thinking about what I want to achieve. Can constant visualization be taken as an affirmation, or do the two (verbal affirmation and visualization) only work when they are practised both at the same time?

Pretoria, South Africa

A Affirmations and visualization are two totally different techniques. You can do one without the other. I always advise people to have many techniques that they can use in working with Mind Powers, and to vary them. However, many people have had great success using just one or two techniques. So it's not necessary to do both the techniques to get results. If you persist with only your affirmations you should gain success as well.

Q All areas in my life are a mess and getting worse. I'll only mention a few: my health and my family's health, I've had CFS and cancer, now gone, bad eyes, bad teeth, the list goes on and on. I know you do a lot for charity and I say thank you for that. Right now, what I go through day in and day out isn't living, its just hanging on by a thread. I am begging you to please help me find the me and the family I lost many years ago. I try every day to stay positive and do positive things but it seems to always backfire, no matter how good my intentions. With just one area of my life smooth I would be in seventh heaven. How can someone who is trying so hard to live a happy life and fulfilled life screw up so badly?

Coquitlam BC, Canada

A It is indeed discouraging when everything seems to be going wrong for us and it seems to build upon itself; one thing leads to another and it just seems to be a never-ending, downward spiralling rut that we find ourselves
in. What you need to do is to change the patterns. And we change our patterns by changing our thoughts. You haven't mentioned whether or not you are doing the techniques of Mind Power Into the 21st Century. If you
are not, what I suggest that you do is reread the book and begin practicing the techniques. Sometimes we feel so down that we don't have the energy or time to do the techniques, but mind powers is a practice, not a philosophy, and when you do the exercises you really do get results. So try and work yourself out of this bad situation that you find yourself in. Even doing ten or fifteen minutes a day, you will achieve excellent results.

I also suggest that you look within and discover why is it that you are creating all these negative things for yourself. We must take responsibility for the things that happen to us. If all these negative things are happening to us, what is it within us that is creating and manifesting these things? Some good soul-searching within, looking at your beliefs, looking at your thoughts, looking at your attitudes about other people and yourself, will reveal a lot. So, please, I encourage you to stop this pattern and to start creating for yourself a happier and more successful life. It can be done. It is by done by thousands of individuals every day all over the world who have turned the most horrendous situations into positive ones. All our lives go in phases and cycles. You are in a very down cycle right now, but by using your mind power you will work yourself out of it. I wish you all the success in your life.

Q I am about to submit a cartoon feature to the major newspaper syndicates for possible syndication. As you may know, getting a cartoon strip "picked up" by a newspaper syndicate is a very difficult endeavor. I've been working very hard perfecting my idea and feel it should be well received. Here's my question. Because the odds of a syndicate responding favorably to a cartoon idea are very slim, do you think it's a good idea for me to get my hopes up through positive thinking? I guess my dilemma is I want to think positive to make things happen my way, but I don't want to be let down if I am rejected. Assuming my work is good, do you feel I can get syndicated if I truly BELIEVE I will?

A It doesn't matter what the odds are, you increase your chances by using mind power. If you use your mind powers and it doesn't manifest, you have lost nothing. If, on the other hand, you fail to use your mind powers and you are refused, you will never know whether the mind power would have made the difference.

Imagine an athlete holding back because of fear of failure. That person has failed already. The same in this situation. Don't hold anything back. Use every tool you have to manifest this reality.

It might be of interest to you that the creator of the Dilbert cartoon used Mind Powers to create the exact situation you are trying to manifest. I have written about this in one of my previous topics. Go for it!

Q I do have a fear that troubles me: a palmist told me that I would have a bad marriage and my wife would die because of me. I am 30 years old and plan to get married but these palmistry thoughts have controlled me. Could you tell me how to remove these thoughts, as I want to select the right wife and have a happy and peaceful married life?
Denver, Abudhabi

A No destiny is written in stone. Palmists and astrologists can only tell you possible outcomes, and that's assuming they're good at what they do. While I feel both these methods have merit, it has been my experience that at least 90% of these people are poorly trained, and have no true knowledge. This is unfortunate because many people go to them for advice and council. The real power they possess is in the power of suggestion, which is great when the suggestion is positive, but when the suggestion is negative it can be incredibly harmful.

Your thoughts and beliefs are what is most important in determining what will happen to you. From this point on, every time you find yourself thinking this thought recognize it as a negative. See the Topic of the Month on negatives. And do not allow it any power over you. Begin visualizing yourself in a happy marriage. Move through it seeing yourself with children (if that's what you want), and picturing yourself having your 50th wedding anniversary. Feed your mind daily, for five or ten minutes, images of a happy successful marriage. Practice my Mind Power techniques and all will be well.

Q I want to know what to say or if can I use mind power to choose my desired dreams at bedtime. I always suffer from bad dreams, such as demons, hell, bloody struggle, vampires, so that I am scared and I don't want to dream that again. I also dream of money, I think I dreamed it two times already consecutively. What or why are my dreams like that; what does it mean?

Tacurong City, Philippines

A Dreams have a way of choosing for us images and messages that the subconscious mind wants us to look at. That being the case, it is often wise to not resist them but look within to see what they might be saying to us. There is nothing to fear. Even unpleasant dreams have a way of enlightening us when we honour them for the messages they bring.

Having said this, you can program your mind before you got to sleep to bring you dreams on a certain part of your life where you're trying to work out answers and often it will.

Practice the techniques mentioned in the Dream chapter of Mind Power Into the 21st Century and this will open a dialogue between your conscious and subconscious mind, which is what dreams are attempting to do.

Q When I do affirmations my mind wanders to different things. What am I supposed to be thinking of?

Pretoria, RSA

A You're not supposed to be thinking of anything in particular when doing affirmations. Quite often our mind will conjure up thoughts that mirror what we are affirming. Other times it will wander to different things, as you mention. I don't try to control my mind when doing affirmations. I let it go where it wants. The incredible aspect of affirmations is that just by saying them they will naturally take effect. They resonate deep within our subconscious and, when continued, will effect our thinking, which in turn changes our vibration. So relax and just do the affirmations without any concern to what you should be thinking.
