Q: John, I don't really know what to say. I'm confused and want to give up but I have to keep trying. For a long time I have been trying to discover the joy and happiness our
subconscious (minds) can bring to us but I don't know how to find it. Please give me some ideas on what to do, where to go, how to find it and understand? Thank you.

A: Happiness is one of the most sought after qualities in our life, and yet probably one of the most misunderstood. That is why I wrote the book, The Practice of Happiness. If you look on the website you will see that there are two chapters from this book, "Follow the Call" and "Trusting Life." Both of them will assist you in achieving the happiness that you desire.
Ultimately happiness is a choice; one makes a decision to choose happiness. The title of the book, The Practice of Happiness suggests exactly that, that one practices happiness. You don't pursue it, but you find the little things in life to be joyful about. You have gratitude, you learn to drink deeply from all the things that happen to you, and when you practice these principles, what will happen is that you will find happiness. Each of us has the potential to be happy each and every day. Really it comes with a decision; it comes with a choice to find that happiness in our life, no matter what is happening to us.
All the best on your quest for happiness, and I wish you well in this wonderful endeavour.
Q: For people who are running a business (for example a restaurant or shop) and not doing well or losing money, how and what sort of affirmation or visualization can they use to increase their sales?
A: Visualize lots of people coming into your shop and buying your product. See yourself as busy looking after all these people and each day making many sales. Go to your subconscious using the techniques I teach in Mind Power Into the 21st Century and find out what you might do to make your business a booming success. Your subconscious has the perfect solution for you. Use affirmations such as: "My shop has lots of customers." "Every day in every way my sales are getting better and better." "My subconscious mind is my partner in success."
Q: Do affirmations and/or visualization stop having effect when I finish practicing? In other words, say I wanted to be a successful person, and I repeat the affirmation, "I am a successful person." When I stop the affirmation because I became successful, do I stop being a successful person?

A: No. Your success is self-perpetrating and will build. You can change your visualization to other goals, which of course will just add to your success. Make sure you acknowledge your success and achieve great nourishment from it by being aware of and grateful for it. Success builds more success. The old saying, "Nothing succeeds like success" is so true.
