Q My question is with regards to relationships. I am a very attractive, successful, optimistic, confident lady, but I've never had much success in attracting the type of man that I find appealing and attractive, i.e., the type of man I desire. My problem is that I always seem to attract men whom I'm not interested in, and they seem to fall head over heels for me very quickly and give me all the attention I wish I could have from the man I desire. Correspondingly, the men who I really like and want to have a relationship with do not reciprocate my feelings. It is a pattern that has repeated itself in my life. I have come to the point where I now give time to the guys that give me attention to see if I can in time come to love them, but to no avail. I feel why should I settle for less than my heart's desire, someone who motivates and inspires me with the love I feel for them and the love they feel for me. Please can you give me an affirmation that will counteract this repetitive pattern?
Unknown
A Any time you have reoccurring patterns in your life you can be assured that there is a subconscious belief that is causing them. The question is, what is this subconscious belief and why is it there? You state that you are "attractive, successful, optimistic and confident," all qualities that should attract to you a very suitable partner. Often when patterns keep repeating themselves, we become fatalistic and come to expect what we don't want. This of course is self-fulfilling, so it is a real problem. What I would suggest is that you imprint a new belief and expectation into your subconscious. Focus on exactly what you want and make up an affirmation such as, "I attract ______ men," inserting the characteristics you want in a man. Meanwhile, as you continue to attract men you're not interested in, remind yourself that while they are not your ideal men, you are nevertheless attracting men and this is good. Enjoy the attention and use it as an acknowledging technique. Continue to practice the "expectation of the ideal partner" and it is sure to happen for you. Subconscious patterns can be replaced with new patterns using this process.
Q Do I need to practice affirmation or visualization at the same time everyday? Does it matter if I practice for 15 minutes one day and an hour or more other days?
Los Angeles, CA
A : You do not need to practice affirmations or visualization at the same time each day. Often people will pick a certain time each day because of convenience, and also because it has the added benefit of reminding us that it is time to do our exercises, but this is a matter of personal preference.
Secondly, it is not a matter of how long you do your exercises every day, but rather that you do in fact do them every day. It is the regular persistence of daily exercises that brings the lasting results.
Q If I practice Transcendental Meditation in combination with the techniques from "Mind Power," will this complement or simply disrupt gaining benefits from either one or the other? Do both these practices need to be practiced on their own to get the best benefit/gain, or can they complement each other?
Singapore
A Transcendental Meditation is a very simple meditation whereby one repeats a mantra to oneself over and over again. It is an excellent technique for relaxing the mind. There is no conflict in practicing Transcendental Meditation along with Mind Powers. You can certainly practice both these systems in a mutually beneficial way. And that goes not just for Transcendental Meditation, but for any other meditation, prayer, yoga, or other mental exercises that you do.
Q You mentioned on this site not so long ago that you are touring Australia. Do you have any dates yet and who is organizing it? Thank you.
Australia
A I will be in Australia the second week in September doing publicity for my new book, The Practice of Happiness. I will not be doing any tour dates but am seriously considering picking a time and place to get together with my website readers both in Sydney and Melbourne. I'll also be in Japan for two weeks in late September, and again I'm considering a rendezvous. E-mail me and let me know if you think this is a good idea, those of you who are interested.
Q I have been a policeman for about six years. Since reading your book, Mind Power about a year and half ago, and using the exercises you suggest in your books (along with those in Think & Grow Rich), I also started investing in single family homes (buying, fixing & selling). I have had a great deal of success and I am now quickly on my way to becoming a millionaire, thanks in no small part to you. And now for my question. I have a serious blushing problem whenever I become the center of attention in any social situation, whether it is a positive or a negative situation. This can be a real problem when testifying in court. I can actually look like I am lying, because I am beet-red when I am actually being truthful. I visualize myself being positive and looking normal everyday, but to no avail. The information I have taken from your materials has worked miracles in all other parts of my life, but I am making little or no progress in this department. Any suggestions?
USA
A First of all take the pressure off. Next time you testify start off by stating your problem; address it right up front so it doesn't worry you. Quite often it is the nervousness and the anticipation of blushing that causes it. Then if you blush it has already been addressed. Try a different approach to your problem. Rather than visualizing yourself looking normal, why not visualize yourself blushing but your being relaxed and O.K. about it. Maybe even responding with a few jokes. The more comfortable you are the less the problem will be there, so why not work on being comfortable and relaxed in these situations. I think you'll find this works well for you, and your blushing might very well decrease accordingly.
Q I have studied (read) many books related to consciousness, sub-consciousness, changing beliefs, Zen Buddhism, quantum physics, etc. to learn a great deal about who we are. It took me almost 4 years to understand how our individual, unique lives (realities) work. Somewhere in your book, Mind Power you had mentioned that in order to "override" previous beliefs/thoughts one has to create a new belief and "hold on to it" repeatedly over a period of time, so that it gets deep into the sub-conscious (as a permanent imprint) and thereafter becomes a new perceived reality. I do not know whether or not you know that time does not exist. You also had mentioned that our sub-conscious is like a computer (without any knowledge or recognition of anything). Therefore, our sub-conscious does not recognize time, we are living in now-ness. Also we have the freedom (without criteria) to choose to create any belief resulting in newly perceived "realities." In other words we are the ones that dictate our own destiny. Here are the questions: Why is it still necessary for a person to "hold on to" a belief over a period of time when time does not exist? In other words, why can't we change beliefs instantly? Your answer or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Coral Springs, Florida
A The concept of time is one of the most difficult ones to understand. Some of the greatest thinkers - philosophers, mystics and scientists - have pondered this enigma. Einstein teaches that time is relative. Traveling at the speed of light can slow, stop and theoretically, in certain circumstances, even reverse the flow of time. Then of course, there are realms and dimensions that are beyond time and space.
While I agree with everything you say, and we are living always in what you describe as "nowness," there are certain undeniable aspects of time in our life. We live in a body on a planet where the sun rises and sets each day. You are born, grow to be an adult, and will eventually die. Because the structure of time is so ingrained in our consciousness we need to use this aspect to create change. While you can always live in "nowness," each nowness will be different from each other "nowness."
Repetition is necessary in changing beliefs because we carry baggage from one nowness to another. While theoretically we should be able to make changes instantaneously, practicality shows that with very few exceptions this is not the case. Lo and behold we discover that we are human and not perfect. But the restraints and situations we find ourselves caught in - time and space - luckily allow us to use repetition and Mind Power to create changes in our lives.
Q I have read some of your books and tried everything but can not get started. What point am I missing?
Johannesburg, South Africa
A The hardest part of doing anything is starting. Why not try just 5 minutes a day? Visualize yourself doing mind power exercises, feeling great and getting results. This should get you going. By the way most people have difficulty in actually doing the exercises. It's easier just reading the book but results only come when you practice this system daily. Good luck.
Q The first time I read Mind Power, it felt as if someone had plugged into my thoughts and wrote about them. Since then I have read mind power five or six times, especially at times when I need a bit of strength to stay on my path to success. I'm 24 years old and even though I'm quite young in some peoples eyes I have achieved a lot. I have two degrees, have been the chairperson of a number of organizations, and have been rewarded by universities and multinational organizations for my achievements and leadership qualities. Recently though, I have been in a situation which at times feels as if there is no way out. It feels as if there is no purpose for my actions. I'm working in a very negative environment and unfortunately I cannot just walk away because of commitments (at least for the next few months). Due to this I feel that I have started to lose faith in myself, and my confidence has slipped with it. This is no good. For the first time in my life I have concerns as to whether or not I'll be successful, and because of this I feel that it has become an obsession of mine to be wealthy and successful. In my opinion my obsession has now become my weakness. I feel like a 100m sprinter running through knee-deep mud. All the effort (and more) is being put into my actions but I'm getting nowhere. I'm constantly trying to push the negative thoughts from my mind, because I feel a negative attitude will have negative repercussions on my path through life. I need your insight into my situation. I feel I cannot see clearly because I'm in the situation and I would appreciate your viewpoint (looking from the outside in). Looking forward to your reply.
South Africa
A Don't get overwhelmed by the negatives. Remember negatives only have power over you when you react to them. Relax! Get out of your situation as quickly as possible if it takes a few months, then so be it. Your accomplishments at 24 are outstanding. Begin acknowledging yourself immediately to regain your success vibration. I have recently received numerous letters like yours from people who feel they're at a standstill, looking for direction, not knowing exactly what they want from life. Sometimes what this means is that it is time to take a break, to take some time to look into yourself and your life. So here is an idea. Why not take a few years off? Reward yourself. Why not? If you cant take a few years, then how about a few months? Regroup after having fun and a good break. You have an excellent future ahead of you using Mind Powers.
Q I try to put myself to sleep with positive thoughts but inevitably thoughts come in that I don't want. My question is how do I keep the negative thoughts out?
Central Nebraska
A This Web site contains a page on eliminating negatives. Read it but most importantly practice the techniques. If you combine these techniques with the principles of mind power, negatives will have little effect on you.
Q Do you have a 1-800 number that we can call for ordering your books and tapes? I really don't trust putting my credit card number online yet.
Mascoutah, Illinois
A I'm glad you asked. While we have a secure site and adhere to the highest standards of safety in the industry, some people are still reluctant to log on with their credit card.
So for the very first time we are launching a toll free number this month for those that wish to order over the phone. It is 1-866-924-1710.
I hope this encourages my readers to avail themselves of the wide variety of teaching audio and videotapes, as well as my books. There are fabulous products available at extremely low prices. We are here to help you in every way possible.
Q What does one do if one is able to maintain a positive mind, but the current situation remains a nightmare? I keep my mind focused on success and personal improvement, but my days keep conflicting with my vision. I know that for every positive energy I build up, there is an equal reaction of negative energy produced, but how then do I succeed over this aggressive obstacle?
East Fremantle

A Think of the analogy of a captain on the bridge of a ship guiding the vessel through a storm. Each of our lives will have storms, setbacks, obstacles and trials. Some will be minor and quite inconsequential. Others will shake us to our core. During these times, Mind Power is not only important, it is a safety net that will catch us no matter what happens. While we are in these situations, it often appears it will never end, but they always do give way to something new and different. So navigate yourself through this storm, Captain, and smooth sailing and sunny skies will appear.
Q Thank you for providing me with something positive. I used to think that I was cursed, because most things in my life were not going the way I wanted and planned. I'm now positive that I am going to get everything I wish for in life. Your book changed how I think about my life. So thanks again.
Sometimes when I try to use my conscious and subconscious, I get lost on the way. Is this normal, and will I still get the positive feedback?
Pretoria, South Africa
A Getting lost on the way is part of the process. If accessing the subconscious was so easy, we would all have ready access to it. This would be wonderful, but it is not the case. The subconscious can be reached and accessed by repetition using the three steps I outline in the chapter "The Subconscious," in Mind Power Into the 21st Century. While it can take time before you get your first response, repetition guarantees you will have results.
Another interesting feature of contacting the subconscious is that, once a connection has been established and you hear the "inner voice," it will come regularly. Be patient and diligent in seeking out this exciting part of you.
Q Greetings. I am a Filipino living in Dubai. I just read your book, Mind Power, the other day. It really helped me a lot in understanding mind power and how to develop it. You know, I believed a long time ago that the mind is really over anything else in the world. I have read that in other books, but they did not teach me on how to develop and practice it. So your book is the answer. I just found it in an old bookshelf of my parents, so I started reading it. And I felt that this is the answer to my questions in life. I am now a job seeker here and your book really changed my attitude in finding the right job for me. I am just a beginner in this practice, but I know it will change my life because I create my own reality. And I really like the way you incorporate teachings from the Bible; it really strengthens your points. Thanks a lot.
My question is about visualization. In visualization, we are taught to use our imagination and see ourselves in a situation that hasn't happened yet, and successfully achieving the results we desire. Isn't that "counting the chicks before the egg is hatched?" Honestly, I believed in that story from Aesop's fables since I was a kid. And I practice that until now. So what is your insight about this? Thanks a lot and more power.
Al Qusais, Dubai
United Arab Emirates
A First, congratulations on your new discovery and practice of mind power. It is wonderful to discover it while you are still young.
Your question about "counting the chicks before the egg is hatched," is a good one. However, mind power is using images in your mind to influence and direct future outcomes. It is an inner mental practice that you do for a very short time, five or ten minutes a day, and then you let go of it. You are not actually pretending or deluding yourself that "the chickens have hatched." In reality you know and understand what you are doing. You are using your mind to "help the outcome." And it does help, in the most miraculous ways . Welcome to the science.
Q I believe life goes beyond our senses and is much more than we can ever perceive. I am interested and determined to find my purpose in life and evolve spiritually. I have found invaluable information on this website, in particular about the past, present and future. Will visualization techniques work in any area of our lives to change (meaning better) our future, or are there some things that cannot be changed?
A second question refers to dreams. I have practiced positive thinking and visualization techniques with successful results. However, what can we do to get rid of bad or recurring dreams? This is particularly important when stress builds up. Your answer will be much appreciated.
Melbourne, Australia
A I'm so glad that this website is providing you with insights. That's why I created it and regularly update it and continue to do monthly topics and questions and answers. If you are determined to find your purpose in life and evolve spiritually, nothing can keep it from you. Keep up your determination.
Now regarding your questions. There are very few things that can't be changed using Mind Power. Act on the assumption that all you desire will be achieved. If any area seems resistant to change, and this can happen, there are reasons and they will be revealed to you.
Secondly, so called nightmares and recurring dreams are really your subconscious mind trying to get your attention. You're not listening, so they keep coming back and becoming more and more dramatic. You will only get rid of them when you listen to what they are trying to tell you. Next time one of these dreams happens, write it down in complete detail and then begin to decipher its message using the techniques in the chapter on dreams in Mindpower into the 21st Century. If you're determined to understand what is trying to reveal itself to you, it will be revealed. Don't fear these dreams. Something very important is being told to you.
Q I am unable to communicate with people. I am not able to say what I want to say clearly. I am not confident. I think I have built up an inferiority complex. How can I come out of this?
Chennai, India
A You will become whatever you consistently think about. Lack of confidence and the inability to communicate with others are easily rectified by daily application of your thoughts. Have a clear image of yourself being confident and communicating well. Use the powerful techniques of visualization and affirmations daily until these images become imprinted into your subconscious. As philosopher James Allen said, "A new life is but a new mind." Read and practice everything that is contained on this website and you will have what you desire.
Q I've submitted a question before, but there is a further point that concerns me about mind power. You mentioned that one may use mind power in order to find a fulfilling relationship. But then you said that it's also possible to simply focus on a particular person you would like to have a relationship with. Wouldn't it be a bit wrong for someone to use mind power on another person for their own advantage?
Unknown
A You must always use discretion when your Mind Power involves another person. Each of us has our own free will, and you cannot impose your will on another even if you want to. If the relationship is not meant to be and the other party is opposed to it, no amount of Mind Power will make it happen. However, not all situations are so black and white, and very often if the other party is undecided or indifferent, Mind Power can definitely help to make it happen. Trust your intuition in doing what "feels right," and always act from the ethical attitude that what is going to happen will be the best for all parties.
Q I was very interested to read your chapter about IMPRINTING NEW BELIEFS. I have read about this in certain other books, where it is suggested that whenever you start to change your deepest held beliefs, BAD THINGS START HAPPENING. It is as if your mind is clearing out' old rubbish, ready to make way for the new. I was wondering what you thought about this because I think it's a pretty daft suggestion. If you believe that bad things will start to happen when you upgrade your beliefs, then you will just create a reality where old habits die hard,' and that could make change difficult and disheartening. The last thing you need when changing your mentality is a load of initial setbacks to make the process even harder. What are your thoughts on this?
Sydney, Australia
A I think it is absolute rubbish. Having said that, if you do choose to believe that "bad things start happening," that can indeed attract bad things. My thirty-year experience with working with Mind Power allows me to state with total conviction and authority that when you start changing deepest-held beliefs, positive things happen.
Q I am just re-reading your A Vision of Power and Glory again (I love it and get something new out of it each time I read it) and was just wondering if you are currently, or are planning on writing/releasing a new book soon? I thoroughly enjoy all your books. Many thanks for sharing them with us.
Invercargill, New Zealand
A After writing five books, releasing numerous CDs and touring the world fifteen times over a twenty-five-year teaching career, I am presently on a two-year sabbatical that ends in December of this year. There is much that has been revealed to me in this "listening" period, and I look forward to coming back to teaching and writing. I will let all my students and followers of this web site know my plans as soon as I know them myself, but I can tell you now that 2005 promises to be a very prolific year.

Q I have recently read your book on Mind Power and have started with the daily exercises, but I am having some trouble. How do I combine my goals, since I have so many and they are all in different areas (financial, relationships, career, etc.)? Or do I only deal with one every 90 days? This is causing me to have trouble focusing on just one goal since I am anxious that if I don't deal with the others (those areas in my life which also need attention), some parts of my "development" will be neglected. Hope this make sense to you.
Pretoria, South Africa
A Yours is a common question with those new to the practice of Mind Power. Discovering your ability to manifest and create in your life, you want to do everything at once. Unfortunately you can't. You need to prioritize your goals and work on the ones that are most important to you at this point in your life. Having said that, there is nothing stopping you from having a general visualization or affirmation that includes "all aspects of your life." Also, one of the benefits of practicing Mind Power is that there is what I call a "spillover" effect. Often in working with one area of your life you see improvements in other areas as well. It is like a tide that lifts all boats. So begin your daily practice and design a program that can rotate your priorities, so you cover everything in a one-year period. I would also suggest the CD "Setting Up a Mind Power Program."
Q How do I change my way of thinking to a much more positive way, to a way that will help me achieve my dreams and goals? How do I motivate myself to go out and do it? How do I join the 90-day club?
Roodepoort, South Africa
A Motivation comes from a belief that Mind Power works, and that doing the exercises will have a positive benefit. Unless you believe this, why would you waste your time? You join the 90-day club by doing a Mind Power program of at least 20 minutes, consisting of three or four Mind Power techniques in each session, for ninety days in a row without missing a day. An excellent CD to help you do this is "Setting up a Mind Power Program," available on this web site.
Q I've been having some problems for the last six months and I am not able to get rid of them. I earnestly hope that you can help. My four major problems are as follows:
1) How to eliminate fear of death from my mind.
2) How to eliminate negative thinking.
3) How to fill my mind with positive affirmations (positive mindset) and self-confidence.
4) How to stop worries.
A Let me answer your first and fourth questions first, as they are similar questions and have the same answer.
Both fear and worry are examples of the mind focusing on what you don't want to happen to you. You could say they are Mind Power in reverse. There is a very simple maxim in Mind Power and that is: When you know what it is that you don't want to happen to you then ... don't think those thoughts. A lazy undisciplined mind will easily fall into the trap of fear and worry. The Mind Power student, on the other hand, realizes that both fear and worry are completely counterproductive and cause problems both internally and externally to the one thinking them. So when you catch yourself fearing and worrying, change your thoughts, focusing on a positive outcome that is the exact opposite of the fear and worry. It takes practice, but once you're in the habit of doing this, fear and worry will have no power over you.
Your second and third questions, "How to fill your mind with positive affirmations," have both been covered in previous monthly topics. There are over a hundred topics in our databank of previous monthly topics. It will take you only several minutes to review the topic titles and choose the areas you wish to learn from.
This is also a reminder to all readers: Access the past monthly topics there is immense wisdom and teaching here for all of you.
