Learn Mind Power - Questions & Answers

Q: Is there any relationship between the subconscious mind and synchronicity
(meaningful coincidences)?

Miami, Florida

A: There is a very direct relationship between the two. Your subconscious mind is plugged in to all reality. The outer world of circumstances and situations that happen to you is influenced and affected by the subconscious. It is the energy and vibration of your subconscious that allows synchronicity to happen. All that happens to you has its causes within. Synchronicity happens because of who you are on a subconscious level. It's never because of chance, although it appears to be from the perspective of the logical conscious mind. There is no such thing as luck or chance. All circumstances in our life have a deeper cause. Thank you for your question.

Q: Is mind power essentially telekinesis, or is it just a motivational strategy? By this I'm asking does mind power actually change things in the world to your benefit, or is it more like what Anthony Robbins says when he talks about "personal power," which is motivation to take action?

Colorado, USA

A: Mind Power is not telekinesis, and it is much more than motivation to take action.

All reality is made up of vibrations of energy. Your thoughts are also vibrations of energy. You can affect what happens in your life by working with this energy. Any thought that is repeated over and over will take an imprint on the subconscious mind. Whatever is imprinted on a subconscious level will vibrate and attract from the outer world what you contain within. It is all very scientific and easy to understand. You have great powers of manifestation when you understand and practice this system.

Q: I have read most of your books over the years and recently went on holiday and took along "A Vision of Power and Glory." I read it when I bought it, but didn't understand it at the time. I somehow "knew" it was a book I needed to read during my holiday. It really "spoke" to me this time. The book has made me realise how there is another me I want to find out more about. Thank you John, I am looking forward to your visit here next year.

My question. I have been practising TM sporadically for many years but much more regularly lately to de-stress myself. Should I stop that and use my meditation time to practice Mind Power visualisations, or should I keep up both? Another question: Joe Karbo's book was emphatic that you should only use visualisation techniques for "attributes" and not material things - he used affirmations for material things. I cannot be sure from your books if you agree. Could you advise me?
Auckland, New Zealand

A: Regarding TM, any meditation that you use will be valuable for you, as it will help to both strengthen and relax the mind. TM certainly is a well-recognized meditation technique and can be done along with mind power visualization.

Secondly, you mention Joe Karbo's book. I'm not familiar with this particular book, but let me assure you that you can use affirmations for whatever you want, and I emphasize the word "whatever," whether it's attributes or whether it's material things. There is no limit to the areas that you can use affirmations in.

Q: What is the fastest way to input a new belief system? Can you visualize beliefs?

NY

A: Beliefs are different from goals. While you visualize a goal, you don't visualize a belief. The best way to imprint a new belief into your mind is to concentrate on the things that you choose to believe. Now notice I use the word choose. It's not a matter of what is real or what is not real. It is more a matter of what we choose to be real. We can put any new belief into our mind working with the technique of imprinting. But there is no fast way to imprint a new belief. What I have found through experience is that new beliefs usually take somewhere between sixty and ninety days of regular imprinting in order for them to take root in the subconscious. So by simply spending a few minutes every day, contemplating, thinking about, affirming to yourself that new belief, it will naturally imprint. But it does need a certain amount of time and there is no fast track. It's certainly not a magic pill. But in the context of our entire life, sixty to ninety days is but the blink of an eye. Have fun with it and have great success.

Q: Is there any reason(s) why you do not distinguish between the unconscious and the subconscious mind? Is it to keep the message simple and clear and non-Freudian?
South Africa

A: The term unconscious and subconscious are really synonymous. Because the term subconscious is more widely used, that is the one I use for teaching purposes. The important thing to realize is that the conscious part of our mind is just a small fraction of what is available to us.

Q: After several business failures I find myself living in a 1-bedroom trailer (not what I ever imagined for myself) and it been almost two years now. I've just purchased Mind Power Into the 21st Century and I felt a major shift after the first read. What can I do to bring myself out of this and back onto the success path that is so exciting and fun?
Palm Desert, California

A: Everyone fails sometimes. No one is immune. It's how you think and act when you're down and out that counts. A famous movie producer (his name slips my mind) once said, I've been broke but I've never been poor." What's the difference? Plenty. Poor is a state of mind. Broke is a temporary setback. You've had a few business failures. Many people fail at new business ventures before they hit the combination that is right for them. Don't be discouraged. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he finally mastered the light bulb. Henry Ford went bankrupt twice. You're in good company. Practice the techniques and you won't be long in your one-bedroom trailer.

Q: How can I get my children to understand and use "MIND POWER"? My children's age range from 9 to 13, how do I get them to understand?
Atlanta, Georgia

A: Children pick up on this really quickly. Techniques such as affirmations and visualization are easily understood by children even as young as 4 or 5. Pick areas that are relevant to their life. Friends, school, sports - help them in the initial stages and watch them run with it. They'll love it and get immense benefit.

Q: I'm writing to express my feelings about your book. I'm 18 and I thank God that I had a CHANCE to find the formula of life's success at this age. I'm sorry for my parents who never had such an opportunity. As for me, I always had in mind some of your ideas, but I didn't know how to articulate them; furthermore I was unsure of my own theories. Recently, however, I found out I was right. I'm happy that I was moving in a right direction. Thanks to your book I recognized that I have enough strength and power to achieve my aims. I want to make the people who surround me happy; moreover my mom admire me. It's only the beginning but with your help I'm sure I can do it.

Vilnius,

Lithuania

A: It's gratifying to see so many people from around the world discover and practice mind power. Discovering this science at an early age is indeed an immense advantage. Follow your call, have a fun and exciting life and do great things.

All the best.

Q: What's the best way to do the exercises - while lying down, sitting down, etc.? This is particularly for the visualization and seeding exercises.

Ontario, Canada

A: Any way that feels comfortable. You can do them while standing and walking around the room, or while jogging, or even while swimming laps at a pool. You obviously shouldn't do them while driving a car as it will distract you, but short of that, simply find the way that feels most appropriate to you. Nor are you limited to just one way.

If you do your exercises late at night, I would avoid lying down as you will probably fall asleep. Many people who leave their exercises to the end of the day and try to do them in bed before they fall asleep don't succeed at finishing them before sleep overtakes them. Having said that, however, doing your exercises in bed first thing in the morning after you've woken up can be very valuable.

Q: I have a question about eliminating mental blocks. I have been practicing Mind Power techniques to find myself a better job (and thus, a better life too). I know how to affirm and visualise, but my concern lies with TAKING ACTION.

I know what I'm looking for, but the process of actually GOING OUT AND LOOKING sometimes fills me with dread, and this has happened a few times now. I appreciate that if I don't venture out I won't gain, but how can I eliminate any job-hunting fears and make the process easier for myself? I know from the past that the fears of failure, fruitless toil or job rejections etc., create vibrations which have kept fantastic jobs away from me.

Some people say that failures or disappointments are necessary, for whatever reason, but I don't see the point in believing this. (If I have an all-powerful subconscious, why clutter it up with these daft and negative suggestions?) What can I do to get rid of these blocks, in mentality and reality? Thank you for your help.

Unknown

A: You state that you know that "fears of failure, fruitless toil or job rejections etc., create vibrations which have kept fantastic jobs away from me." What a wonderful thing to know. Now that you know this, create "expectations of success" to replace "fear of failure." Work with these new vibrations and beliefs daily during your Mind Power Program. As these expectations become imprinted, you will then look forward to "going out and looking." This of course does not mean that you will not meet with rejection or that you will find your perfect job on the first try. You might, but you also might have ten twenty, or thirty rejections before you finally get it. What will change is your reaction to the rejections. The law of averages will work for you. Every rejection actually brings you closer to the job you want. Have perseverance, go out with positive expectations, let every rejection make you stronger and more determined, and the job you desire will be yours.

Q: What do you do when you have used affirmations and visualizations to create the perfect partner you desire and he comes along in exactly that form and then leaves you? It has been a very confusing and traumatic time and I don't know where to go from here.

Durban, South Africa

A: Ah... matters of the heart. They can be very difficult and challenging and yet so rewarding. So you manifested the perfect partner; well congratulations. This shows you that the system works. This should give you confidence in being able to do it again. This time include in your visualizations and affirmations that the next partner will have all the qualities you desire, plus it will be a long-term relationship with someone who wants to commit to you. You probably omitted this detail last time.

Q: I'm an avid reader of your books and appreciate them very much. I'm very motivated to live the fullest life possible for myself and others. I've been doing positive affirmations of ten words or less, both by saying them out loud and quietly to myself, but with no tangible success. My question is: would I get the results I desire if I were to write out my affirmations 20 to30 times (or more) during my daily session? Does writing them down rather than saying them get you closer to your heart's desires more effectively and sooner? Does it make any difference at all?

Ajax, Canada

A: It is always important to know what time frame you're referring to. When you say you've been using your affirmations with no tangible success, do you mean you've been using them for two weeks or three months? Your answer would affect how I advise you. If it has been only several weeks, I would advise to persist with the practice. If it has been several months, I would suggest trying other techniques as well to add more power.

Regarding writing affirmations as well as saying them, this is a matter of personal preference. The mind likes variety and writing them down could be a very valuable way of adding diversity. It will not necessarily get you to your heart's desire sooner or more effectively, but it could add some momentum to the practice. Try it and see how it feels.
