Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

February 2005

Q I think I should just mention that I'm one of the lucky people in South Africa who has met you personally, in Cape Town Waterfront, when you were promoting your new book The Practice of Happiness. You donated your books to a black women's book club that I was heading then. I now live in California and have achieved most of the dreams and goals I had prior to meeting you and reading your books. Mind Power and Practice helped me through!

My problem is that since I have been here, I have frozen over. I cannot get myself to do the organizational work that I love so much. I am scared of the quality of people I see around me, I feel very dominated, and I'm scared I'm getting stagnated. My outgoing personality has instead given birth to bad moods with a lot of frustration. It is a totally different world and I don't feel needed here like back home. My problem is that I cannot go back home either, because I am now married and my kids love their new life here.

A I know it is frustrating when you go to a new country and you don't have the same friends and you have to start your life all over again. While in South Africa you had many friends and many activities and you did great work; now you find yourself in a totally new situation. This can be very frustrating.

However, you do have mind powers and, as you indicated in your e-mail to me, you have used it very successfully. So you do know that it works. What you need to do is to start a new program of mind powers, attracting to you interesting people and circumstances and situations that will fulfill your new life. You must be patient when there is a transition in your life. Whenever there is a transition as large as the one you're going through, there is always an overlapping period of both uncertainty and confusion. This is to be expected. Don't panic. Don't get overwhelmed by it. Allow your new life to settle in and, working with mind powers, you will find great people and many important activities that can use a talented person such as yourself.

Q Is your intuition always right, or can it mislead you?

A Intuition is one of the ways that the subconscious speaks to us. The subconscious will inform us through one of three ways - through dreams, through hunches and feelings, or through our intuition. And our intuition is always right in the sense that it will always guide you towards the goals and objectives you desire, and it will always give you very accurate information. What sometimes confuses us is that there are other messages inside our mind. There are emotions. There are feelings. There are desires. There are subconscious beliefs. And all of these can sometimes disguise themselves as intuition, and sometimes we mistake these other parts of us for our intuition. In fact this is probably the number-one stumbling block in learning to harness your intuition - learning to tell the difference between these different parts of us. And the way to tell the difference between your intuition and these other things is simply by working with intuition regularly and consistently. As I like to tell my students, "You always know your lover's voice." In other words, when you work with it regularly and consistently you will notice the feeling, the sensation, both in your physical body and your mind, when you're intuition is working for you. It will have a very high vibration. It will come with a sense of authority and excitement. In the beginning stages it feels like trial and error, but your intuition will become stronger and clearer with practice. And trust me, it will never mislead you, though it might surprise you with what it says. As the Rolling Stone song goes, "You don't always get what you want - but you get what you need."

Q I have been trying to "tune in" to my intuition, but seem to be making mistakes financially, such as getting the right feeling about a certain stock, and then buying. I do check it out and don't blindly just "buy," and all the companies are doing fine. It's just that the stocks (oil stocks) have dropped dramatically. I certainly would not sell at this point and take a loss, as the stocks are now undervalued. So my thinking is, "My intuition is still right, and I just have to wait. There was one stock that I bought and within a month it doubled. I intuitively was trying to determine whether I should sell, as the company was projecting a continued increase. I didn't sell, and guess what? Again the company is doing fine, so long term I am not really worried, but I am trying to rely on my intuition and it is not working too well. Can you give me some insight as to how to view this? Thank you.

A Try using your intuition in more areas than just stock picking. The stock market is but one small part of your total life. You must establish a good overall connection with your intuition. Perhaps you should use it in other areas of your life first before using it on the stock market. Become comfortable with and adept at recognizing it. Then, when this is accomplished, bring it to the stock market.

Q My husband and I did the Mind Power course in 2001 when you where in South Africa, at the Mount Nelson Hotel. It was the beginning of an interesting and eye-opening era for us. We have continuously used the system to obtain and achieve our goals in our lives as a family and as individuals. My husband has been promoted to a very senior position in his work, and I have come to terms with being able to be a back support for my family.

One thing that I have discovered is that my psychic powers, which I have from early childhood tried to ignore, have been increased with my continual use of mind powers. I am more interested in learning more about my subconscious and my psychic abilities and how I can use this for only good.

How do I combine the two and make good use of it? Please point me in the right direction, books to read, sites I can research. I want to understand this more instead of fearing the ability.

A Thanks for your feedback on taking the course with me. One of the advantages of working regularly with Mind Power is that other aspects of your psyche are awakened. This often comes as a surprise to new students. They are working on a particular goal, practicing regularly, when suddenly they get an inner glimpse of their soul, or a psychic power reveals itself. The fact is that we all have these abilities. In most people, however, they lie dormant, because the mind is only used for "thinking" thoughts. It is never trained or directed. So the fact that the psychic powers you have had since childhood are now increasing is totally understandable. My book Mind Power Into the 21st Century has several chapters that are relevant to intuition and the subconscious. These plus the information you learned in the course are more than enough to awaken and harness these powers. Set up a daily program and commit yourself to the goal of having these abilities fully functional, and you will achieve this.

Regarding other books and sites, there are hundreds of books and thousands of sites and I don't know where to direct you. I suggest you go to your bookstore and let whatever book "speaks to you" be your guide. One book that is valuable is The Power of the Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy. It is basic and simple, and maybe you're beyond it, but it is nevertheless a classic. The one thing I can assure you of is that your sincerity and dedication to find this information will in itself draw it to you.

Regarding using these abilities only for good purposes, this will depend upon your own choices and discernment. Your conscience, intuition and soul will help you in these matters.
