Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

March 2005

Q I've read most of your book Mind Power so far. I have read many of these books and though I haven't had much chance to practice it yet, it has already made me feel happier and less tired. But I have been nagged with some questions about this "your thoughts create reality" thing. With Mind Power, can you, for example, affect other people negatively? If you can even affect other people positively by making them, for example, like you and eventually date you, wouldn't that be kind of unfair because you would be controlling their path in life? And what happens if they wouldn't otherwise have liked you; you would be kind of forcing them to like you?

A You cannot control other people with mind powers. What you can do with mind powers is change the energy and vibration that emits from you. When you change your energy and vibration, then that changes people's reaction to you. When you change, the whole world changes. Everything changes when you change your thoughts, beliefs, emotions and feelings.

So it's not a matter of forcing people or repelling people; it's a matter of working with energy and vibrations by which you change your reality. People will either like you or dislike you according to who you are, and who you are has to do with what you think, what you feel, what you believe, and what you do. Mind Powers is a system of changing yourself, and in changing yourself, you change everything.

Q I have read your book Mind Power into the 21stCentury. It's excellent and I was inspired by your insight into the human genealogy. I am a Christian and believe that every individual needs God (i.e., Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit) at some point in his life. The principles you advocate are brilliant and I have started implementing them in my life, but you have missed the fact that every human has a void in his spirit which can only be filled by God (Jesus Christ). Your principles are great and I shall prove them in my life, but I believe that at the end of the day, we still must acknowledge our dependence on the one who has created us, for without this acknowledgement our achievements are in vain, because "what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his soul?" What are your views?

A I have purposely left out all spiritual teaching in my mind power principles, because I don't want to confuse the two. People often ask me if I am religious. My answer is that I am not religious, but I am spiritual. And I make a distinction between the two. Spirituality is connecting with that something or someone, be it God, be it Buddha, be it Jesus Christ, be it Mohammed, be it the Great Mystery, as the North American Indians like to refer to it - that something else that exists beyond us. Most certainly as you progress through mind powers, you become aware that there is so much within our psyche, within our consciousness, within our inner universe as well as our outer universe, that defies explanation.
We indeed live in an awesome world. So I have left it to each individual to discover for themselves their own spirituality. You say that you are a Christian. The Christian faith is a wonderful faith and indeed will bring you closer to your answers. So too will many other faiths. So you ask, should we not acknowledge our achievements to God when we achieve things? If this is what you feel as a Christian that you should do, then by all means do that. You will find that mind powers will work quite well in conjunction with your Christian faith, and I'm happy that you have discovered this information.

Q I have a problem with quitting smoking. I am affirming, "I release the need to smoke cigarettes." I may have released the need, but I am still smoking. Is there a better affirmation I could use?
South Africa

A Affirmations are an incredibly powerful way to use Mind Power, and also one of the easiest. Getting the wording so that it is most effective is the key. I always remind people to phrase the affirmation in a positive statement. I feel the affirmation you have created is counterproductive. You have included the words "need to smoke cigarettes." I think you are affirming the power of cigarettes over you. Here are some better ones:

"I love being a non smoker."

"I feel healthy being a non smoker."

"I'm a non smoker and feel great."

"I'm proud that I'm a non smoker."

Experiment with the wording so it feels right. The affirmation you chose projects the image of you "needing to smoke." The above affirmations support your image of you being a non smoker.

Q I have visualized a new career, making more money, being more successful, but then I start to doubt myself. I start to wonder if the career that I am trying to visualize is the right one. How do I know that I'm visualizing the right things?

Kamloops, Canada

A Excellent question. What are the right goals for us? Each of us has been given free will to choose our goals and use our mind power to achieve it. But this does not mean all goals are "right" for us. It is always a good idea to go within and get guidance from our subconscious as to whether indeed the aims we have chosen for ourselves are appropriate. Your "doubting" yourself is a signal from your subconscious. Go within to fully understand why those doubts are there. Perhaps you'll find the doubts are unfounded, and this, once revealed, will then help you to focus your thoughts. On the other hand, perhaps your doubts are telling you that there are other goals which would serve you better.

Always try to be sure that what you are visualizing is both desirable and appropriate. Your desire is fuelled by the intent, and you must always feel "right" about what you are doing.
