Q Firstly John, I have read your book Money Success & You. I found it to be fantastic as people always lead you into believing that you should not be materialistic, that money cannot bring happiness, but your book really showed me what it meant to have a new perspective on money. I am not rolling in cash but am doing well for myself. Good job, lovely wife, home etc. Here comes the question. I am a firm believer in visualisation and positive thinking, but I seem to be in a personal rut and need some inspiration .Any suggestions? Many thanks.
South Africa
A We all find ourselves at different times of our life being in personal ruts and needing inspiration. First of all, recognizing that we are in a personal rut is in itself the first step toward getting out of it. You need to realize that these cycles in our life are normal. They happen to all of us. Now decide whether or not you wish to remain in this rut, and if you do not, then begin to work with the Mind Power techniques to get yourself out of it. I know that in my own life whenever I find myself in some type of a rut or things aren't going well for me or I'm feeling depressed or down, I always look to my daily chart to see if I am doing my exercises, and one hundred percent of the time, I'm not doing my daily exercises. Yes, even John Kehoe sometimes slips. So if you want to get out of this rut you're in, simply start up a Mind Power program and very quickly you will be out of your rut.
Q I recently read your book Mind Power into the 21st Century and knew immediately that here were techniques that work! And yet, I'm having a problem. I fell in love with a man but he decided that I was not the one for him. I have been using affirmations that there is now a wonderful man in my life, and feeling the contentment (seeding), but the visualizations are causing me a lot of confusion because I keep visualizing being with the man who broke up with me! I feel torn on this and don't know what to do. Am I negating the mind power program with this conflict? And how do I stop visualizing him?

A Personal relationships play such a large role in our lives that they can sometimes cloud our perspective and viewpoint. And I can feel that this is probably what is happening with you right now. Ultimately we have to trust in life and in our ability to attract and manifest for ourselves many fabulous relationships, that we are not limited to just one person. I think you have to go to your intuition and truly ask, "Is this the right person for me?" And try to divorce yourself from your needs and emotions. Just let the subconscious tell you. And what you very well might find is indeed that this is not the right person for you.
So what you do is let go of those threads that still bind you to that individual. Every time you find yourself thinking of that person, you simply send that person very warm thoughts of kindness, but let go of the image and remind yourself that there is a fabulous relationship just waiting to happen to you with somebody new. Then start visualizing yourself being with this new person. Imagine the characteristics, the personality, the things that are important to you. Not necessarily seeing a face. It can be quite general, but definitely seeing, feeling yourself being with a new individual. And as you do this the old holds will definitely lessen.
Q After reading Mind Power I had to decide how to put it into practice. I decided to start with changing my beliefs. I wrote down my beliefs on all aspects of my life, i.e., career, finances, social life, family life, love life and self-image. Opposite each negative belief I wrote a positive one. Now my problem is that I am not sure whether it is correct for me to read every day from the top to the bottom of my list. I have about 15 new beliefs per category, and by the time I get to the last one I have forgotten what I've been reading. I need to change my beliefs in all the categories and I'm afraid that if I only take 1 or 2 at a time for 3 months, I will be unable to effect the necessary changes anytime soon.

A There is an old maxim in Mind Powers that says you crawl before you walk and you walk before you run. A common error when you first discover Mind Power is that you try to change everything all at once. Not only is this impossible, but you discourage yourself by trying too much and not succeeding. A better approach is to choose several areas of your life that you want to change. Prioritize your desires. What is most important to you? Set up Mind Power programs to create new realities in this area of your life. By focusing on just a few things, you are then able to achieve them. This gives you added confidence to carry on and change more things. Trying to do everything all at once is always a mistake, and a mistake that beginners often make.
Relax, take your time; life is a long and exciting adventure.
Q I am one of your biggest fans, and for the last ten years of my life I can really say that you've changed my life for the better. I am financially well off, thanks to my positive outlook, but recently my life took a severe knock. My mother passed away suddenly and I now find myself not in control of my life anymore! Financially I'm still on top of things and doing great but emotionally and health wise I've taken a beating. I've lost all my self-
confidence, as I've gained a lot of weight and my marriage is suffering from me being severely depressed and temperamental. I feel I've lost control of my body and my mind. I eat to counteract the depression caused from my mothers death and I get even more depressed when I see how fat I''m getting. They say a healthy body helps a healthy mind or visa versa. I'm stuck in a vicious circle.

A Each of us deals with grief in our own way. Losing a mother is a very traumatic event. I know. I lost my mother when I was thirteen. She drowned in a vacation accident, so I can empathize.
Eating is a very common way of dealing with depression. We get a momentary high from the experience, but then usually feel the worse for it. I would suggest honouring your mother in a different way. Think, "How would my mother wish me to grieve?" You're not helping yourself, your mother or your life by being "stuck" like this. Take a stand today. Enough is enough. Begin a mind power program that sees yourself back at your ideal weight. Start working out. Working out makes you feel great. Be active. Recognize that the rut you're now in is not serving anyone, least of all yourself.
Control of your life comes with control of your thoughts. You've proven to yourself that you can use mind powers in other areas of your life. Now use it to move you beyond this present crisis. Think of this time as a challenge which will make you stronger and healthier as you progress through it. I know you can do it.
Q Is it possible to get rid of anxiety and depression forever?
South Africa
A No, it is not possible to get rid of anxiety and depression forever. Anxiety and depression are a part of life. Everyone has times when depression comes. Don't fear it. Accept it as natural. It has its benefits and wisdom too. However, do not let it take you over for weeks and months at a time. This is not natural and is counterproductive. But don't live the illusion that anxiety or depression will never come again. Congratulations on discovering Mind Powers. You have begun a path that will take you to great heights and wonder.
Q I am aware anything is possible, but can I do my visualizations, seeding and affirmations while riding an exercise bike?
Plattsburgh, New York
A Why not? Anytime you have the ability to go on automatic and perform an activity such as riding an exercise bike is an opportunity to also do your visualization, seeding and affirmations. However, here's another idea for you. Why not use half your time on your goals and the other half to visualize your legs getting stronger, your lungs healthier? Why not participate mentally in what is happening with you physically. Arnold Schwarzenegger (see the Visualization chapter in Mind Power Into the 21st Century) claims that part of his success in bodybuilding is due to mentally visualizing the result he wants to see while exercising the muscle. You can do this too while on your exercise bike.
Q John, thank you. You have really changed my whole perspective on life. I
have used Mind Power this year to conquer and overcome some really huge
obstacles in my personal life. I now know without a doubt that without Mind Power
and my faith, I would be a divorcee today.
My husband is going through a mid-life crisis, which is tipping everything in our lives on its ears. How do I use mind power to get through this when it involves somebody else's choices, choices over which I have no control? I have used my intuition to make decisions about this relationship, but it is really hard when I feel someone else has control over my destiny. I love my husband deeply and we have been so happy together before this came about. Help!
Canterbury, New Zealand
A Ahh... those mid-life crises. Yes they can play havoc in our life. Be tolerant, understanding, and ride out this storm. You love your husband and have had a happy relationship, so these are the times when you need to work a little harder to persevere with what you have. When the storm clears remind your husband that he "owes you" when your mid-life crisis occurs.
Mind powers give you excellent techniques to use. A relationship consists of two halves and you are an integral part of it. Visualize yourself and the relationship weathering the storm and coming out the other side stronger. Affirm, "We have a great relationship," "We love each other," "Our love conquers all," and similar affirmations. Refuse to let the reality of what is happening now change your thoughts, love and commitment to your husband. When one member of a couple is having problems, it is all the more important for the other person to be the strength and power that keeps it together.
Don't react to this new development; create, using your powerful thoughts.
Q I am 14 years old and have studied your Mind Power methods for over half a year now. Every year I go to an astronomy "star party," where over a thousand people join together on the top of a mountain for three nights, staying up till the early hours of the morning, and frequently all night. The first year I went up, I did not know what to expect and was therefore not worried about the weather. All three nights were perfectly clear; I got to see the aurora borealis for the first time, hundreds of meteors, and countless nebula.
The second year I knew that the weather was unpredictable and worried the whole day if it would be clear or not, so of course it was cloudy and foggy and windy. The next three nights were just the same. This went on for three more years, each year being more windy and rainy than the last.
About a month ago, I went up again with my newfound knowledge of Mind Power, and on the four-hour trip up I convinced myself that it was the week after the star party and it had been perfectly clear. Even with the same looming clouds that had been there the years before, I was not worried, because of course it had "already" been clear. The clouds loomed farther overhead and got denser and denser.
That night I went into a large tent with hundreds of other people to listen to a guest speaker. It was well after 11:00 p.m. when I went outside-to the clearest sky I have ever seen in my life, not a cloud, and there was no wind. I had forgotten my coat, but I refused to become worried about the cold. I applied the same Mind Power methods to the weather and made it the warmest night I have ever been in. Even with the daytime clouds, I was now fully convinced of my power and applied it to the next two nights. Both were clear and warm; the northern lights glittered all night, a huge flaming meteor flashed overhead, and I even tracked the International Space Station all three nights.
Since then I have applied this power to my whole life, and extremely good things have been happening with uncanny frequency. It is weird and kind of creepy, but I am glad that I have been taught this power so early in my life.
Devoted Mind Powerist
A Thanks for your feedback. Yes, uncanny coincidences and good fortune follow those who practice Mind Power. How fortunate indeed that you have discovered it at such a young age.
