Q I have been harassed at work. I did not complain for fear that my co-workers might lose their jobs, but what happened was that they switched stories and complained instead. I could not prove my innocence, as everybody had planned to say the same thing and my story was different from theirs. They indicated that I was lying when in fact they were lying. I was very stressed out and ended up quitting a job which was very dear to me. I have been very hurt and can't get things out of my mind, although it was my decision to quit.
Your personal stories have been a great help to me, as I know you quit your job and trusted in life. I follow your advice and try my best to trust in life, but sometimes I find it difficult to sleep. I always get up with the hurt, thinking that my life has become a nightmare. At present I'm taking a computer course and graduating on the 19th of January. I'm also looking for work and have to find something as soon as the course comes to an end.
How can I let go of the past and think that I am blessed abundantly? How can I sleep soundly like I used to before this nightmare began? How can I trust in life without being anxious? John, I have great admiration for you and always tried your affirmations, but I need more help, so I decided to write to you. I'm very shy and never thought I would write. But I feel good now that I wrote. I'd look forward for your reply. Thanks again.

A Everything that happens to us happens for a reason. You might find it difficult to imagine why this particular incident happened to you, or what value it could possibly be to you. All our growth in life depends upon our being, as I like to call it, "tested in the fire." And tested in the fire means that life will always bring to us circumstances and situations that allow us to look very closely at ourselves. So even though you were in no way to blame for the incident, your reaction to the incident is completely within your control. You should practice letting go of unfortunate things that happen to you. Holding onto grudges, replaying in your mind bad incidents that happened to you, going over and over the incident in your mind, feeling sorry for yourself, thinking that you are hard done by, only holds you within weakness. What you must do is to simply let those things go and to begin focusing on the things that are positive in your life.
Begin looking at things that are working for you in your life. All right, this situation that happened to you was very unpleasant. It was a situation where your co-workers worked against you, but how many situations in your life have happened that have been pleasant, where people have helped you, where situations have worked out well? And these are the things that you want to focus on. Too often what happens in our life is that we are preoccupied very narrowly with only the things that are negative, the things that have harmed us. What happens then is that we fall into a mental rut. So I'm very happy that you wrote to me. Accept this incident as an awakening, as a call to make yourself more positive. You can even thank your co-workers for this incident, as it's helping you to train your mind to focus on good things, rather than the negative things.
Trusting life means trusting not just when good things happen to you, but trusting life when unfortunate things happen to us. Here is a wonderful opportunity for you to move beyond this incident. Continue to trust life, continue to work with your Mind Powers, continue to fill your mind with positive images about yourself and others, and then watch yourself move forward.
Q Your book Mind Power into the 21st Century is the first book I have bought for a long time and it's a great investment. I am currently at a crossroads after completing four years of studying at university. Now I am at home and at loose ends as to which path I should pursue. I was wondering if you might be able to help me with a programme I can do each day to help with my situation.

A Deciding what one wants to do with one's life is a very important decision. Considering that you are just finishing up university, it is an important question: not only, "What am I going to do with my life?" but, "How am I going to make a living?" What I would suggest is that you trust your intuition. What is it that you like to do? What gives you enjoyment? Look at your objectives in what you want to do with your life.
I would also suggest that you look at a previous topic called "Follow the Call," which addresses the exact question that you have now.
My admiration and thoughts are always with young people who are starting out in life. And especially starting it out with the advantage of mind powers, because there is so much that you can and will do. It's a matter really of making choices. I wish you successful choices and a successful life.
Q How many goals can I work on at one time using mind powers?
A There's an old saying that says you learn to crawl before you walk and you learn to walk before you run. Initially, when you start working with Mind Powers, your most important objective is to prove to yourself conclusively that this works. If you disperse yourself over too many goals, you're going to find that you're just not going to be effective at it. So I suggest that, in the beginning stages of working with Mind Powers, you pick just a few things to work on and work diligently on them. Once you've manifested them, then you can work on more things. You'll gain proficiency and confidence as you go. Certainly you're not limited to one or two things. You can work on sometimes as many as five or six things simultaneously, but you can't work on twenty-five things. If you work on twenty-five you just end up needlessly diluting your energy.
Q I love Mind Power and use it with much success all the time. My question: Can I use it to draw success for someone else? For example, a friend who cannot or will not do it for herself?

A The images we have of other people do in fact assist them if we have a personal contact with them. This is especially true if we can support our efforts with words of encouragement. Ultimately, however, it will always depend upon each individual to change their thoughts and beliefs if they wish to change their reality. Each person must do it for himself or herself.
Q By using your techniques, is it possible through prayer, meditation and visualization to create a positive outcome to an up-coming event in my life? Yes, I do believe the universe is prodigal in its abundance towards us, yet I still need a re-affirmation from you personally. Thank you.

A One of the greatest discoveries that we will ever make is that reality is responsive to our thoughts and beliefs. Once we discover this we can begin to build and create our life with courage and confidence. I'm happy you've discovered Mind Power. Have a great, fun life using it.
Q John, I love Mind Power. It's fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. It takes over where Think and Grow Rich, leaves off. I must convey a tiny story and an insight which may prove helpful to those employing your techniques. While on a recent trip to L.A. I was having dinner with a long time friend. We were both trying to recall the name of a mutual acquaintance. After a few minutes we gave up and forgot about it. Later that evening, while crossing the street, my friend remembered the person's name. He said, "That subconscious search engine, it's amazing." I agreed and immediately realized what a wonderful analogy that was. Thought you should know.

A Thanks for your input. Now all our monthly viewers have it. If anyone else has success stories, insights or anything you think would be of value send it in, and we can post it.
Q Dear John, Reading your book, Mind Power into the 21st Century has enabled me to initiate positive changes in my life. I'd like to share some of my experiences with you. Almost immediately after I began focusing on abundance, I was made aware of the tremendous power of the mind. I had been in a challenging situation money-wise, but, while making a substantial return to a local merchant, the merchant decided to issue both a credit and a cash refund. After some reflection on the situation I realized that my belief in abundance had altered my future. The event made quite an impression on me because prior to that time I had absolutely no money; cash or savings. About one month after daily affirming, "My subconscious is providing me with solutions and answers, and is bringing into my experience someone to help in preparing my home for rent," I was out walking my dog when I met up with a former neighbor I hadn't seen in over 15 years. He paints and does home repair work. This was pure synchronicity. I was elated. Another event occurred after I had been using visualization techniques. I had been working with the BBB and the alternative dispute resolution committee there regarding services I was dissatisfied with, and, in light of this, had requested a full refund. I visualized getting the check in the mail, seeing the business address on the envelope, and the amount I had requested on the check. Five days after the hearing I received a letter from the mediator stating that I would be receiving a check for the full amount of my request within 30 days. I cried, I was so happy. I'll be in touch as more adventures unfold.
