Q I find it is hard for me to relax to do my meditation and affirmations. Can you please give me some advice?
Modesto, California
A Quite often when we are busy it is hard for us to relax. We live in a day and age where we have many goals, many expectations, many pressures, and so quite often our mind is going a hundred miles an hour. And this of course is not conducive to doing Mind Powers. In fact what you want to have is the ability of relaxing the mind so that you can do your techniques effectively. There're a couple of ways that you can relax prior to doing your exercises.
One of them is simply to do some deep breathing. If you spend several minutes just inhaling and holding your breath for several seconds, then exhaling slowly, trying to slow your breathing down to about half it's normal rate, taking in deep gulps of air; if you do this for several minutes, you'll find that your thoughts also slow down. It is a very strange phenomenon, this connection between our thoughts and our breathing, but I can assure you it's there. That's also why in stressful situations you always tell someone to do some deep breathing, because this will calm them down.
Another method of course is just affirm to yourself that "I feel calm and relaxed, I feel calm and relaxed," and do this for several minutes. So if you do one or both of these things prior to doing your exercises I think you'll find your mind will be quite relaxed.
Q I wrote to you about how I started my business and was delighted to see that you had put my query on your site. Although I don't have the credentials you have, I have been consciously manifesting for many years. Sometimes my thoughts materialized so quickly that it was downright scary. I am taking a chance here and hope that you will not take my comment on how you answered one of the questions that was presented to you as anything other than a different way of getting results.
When someone wrote to you about having too many goals, and how his primary goal was to win the Olympics, you suggested that he break up his goals and focus on each one until he attains that goal, then move on to another. Whenever I want something I focus on the results. If he were to focus on winning the Olympics and really put his attention on the results then obviously all the steps in-between would take place. My method is to focus on the results and leave the details up to the universe. The details in the case of the athlete would be all of the events leading up to the Olympics.
My affirmations are very short. I state what I want, then immediately put my attention elsewhere. I have a certification in hypnotherapy and I learned this technique quite by accident. I call it a reverse instant induction (for lack of better words). I think I am on to something but am not quite sure what the dynamics are, or how they work. What I am about to tell you is something I have not told anyone else because I don't think anyone would believe me, and you may not either.
At the time I started doing my affirmations to make money in 1994, I had a drinking problem. I was drinking close to a fifth of vodka a day and didn't believe for one second that I could quit without some kind of treatment. This is what I did. As I was drinking my martini I would put my head down, shut my eyes and say, "I can't remember the last time I had a martini and I can't stand the taste of vodka." I would then lift my head up and focus on something in the room and make an immediate comment on it. This was to take my attention off the affirmation before the critical factor of the conscious mind had a chance to disempower the thought before the seed was firmly planted.
I don't know how long it was before I stopped drinking. I do not remember when the last time I had a martini was, and I now literally cannot stand the taste or smell of vodka. It just dawned on me one day that I wasn't drinking anymore.
I really believe, through my own experiences, that accessing the power of the mind is much, much simpler than we think. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you

A Thank you very much for your e-mail. I'm posting it for other people to see that the powers of the mind work in very strange and mysterious ways. Keep up the good work.
Q What aids or techniques can I use to enhance visualisation of a specific goal or outcome? There must be some technique that will make a goal, dream or outcome really stick in your mind.
Johannesburg, South Africa
A You can enhance your visualization by several methods. Number one, repetition. Nothing imprints upon the mind greater than repetition. You can also repeat affirmations out loud to yourself. You can also enhance the visualization by perhaps having pictures or messages up on your walls, so that you have a visual representation of what it is that you want. You can add emotional content in order to feel very strongly about what it is that you're visualizing. All these things will assist in your visualization.
Q I am a big believer in Yin and Yang and that every thing in the world is a balance. The problem is that in my belief about becoming a complete human being, spiritually and emotionally, I feel that I need to contain and express qualities of both positive and negative. I guess in order to be fully positive (as mentioned in your book Mind Power) I need more justification. Do you have any insight?
Calgary, Alberta
A Life is an ebb and flow affair. Working with mind power is not being positive every moment of every day. Sometimes it is fully appropriate to be depressed, angry or negative according to the situation we find ourselves in. Mind power is being conscious of the fact that we have the ability to direct and control our thoughts. Forget being "fully positive," as you put it, and allow yourself the freedom to think whatever thoughts you choose.
As we grow and develop spiritually and emotionally, yin and yang will always be a part of our unique life path. Working on ourselves will not eliminate this; it will rather let us see yin and yang in action more clearly. Have fun.
Q I have been in a relationship with the same man for about eight years. I love him and I know he loves me, but he has not yet asked me to marry him. After reading your book on beliefs and imprinting, I have realized that perhaps my beliefs have been working against me. I decided to follow your techniques. I am now using visualization and I would like to use affirmations, but I am having a hard time coming up with an affirmation. I don't know how to phrase the affirmation, or if I need to include his name in it. I really want to marry him; can you help me create an affirmation that I can use to help me obtain my purpose?
Sacramento, California
A All affirmations work best when the words feel "just right." It should fit you like a made-to-order outfit. So you always "play" with the words the first week or so to get them right. But here's a starting point.
1. "Bob" (use appropriate name) and I are getting married.
2. Bob loves me and wants to marry me.
3. I'm g/bretting married soon.
4. I love married life.
Use these in conjunction with the other techniques that you are already doing. And maybe let "Bob" know what you want.
Q How can some people judge you on your spiritual beliefs alone, whether you be Muslim, Jewish, Christian or Hindu? How could I be such a bad person according to some people? How can they tell you what God thinks of you and what your fate is? And that you must completely change your personality to enter the kingdom of heaven? Isn't it deeds and not words; what you do and how many people you help?
Johannesburg, South Africa
A Politics and religions are the two surefire ways to get people worked up about differences. Each religion has it's own teachings and perspective, and most claim to be the one and only "true" religion. You will always have the fanatical fringe that will "damn you to hell" if you don't follow their particular beliefs, but not to worry, most people in all religions are tolerant of others' choices.
I personally feel that each of us should approach God in the way our heart leads us. I am sure that God will look within our hearts and, just as you say, judge our deeds more than our choice of religious beliefs. Be true to yourself. Be kind and generous and follow a path that has heart. Look within. All answers are there.
Q I am enjoying the 2 CDs that I ordered and that you sent me so promptly; now here's my question. Am I trying to visualize too many things that I want to happen in my life? That is, to finish our lovely new home; for my business to be tremendously successful so that I can grow it to the next level; to take my family away for a long overdue holiday.
Should I just be focusing on building my business and how I want it to be? For example, the sales we would like to have, the equipment we would like to have, the weekends off for me, the customers we would like to have flocking to our door?
... rather than focusing on what I would like to have in my home, and wanting my business to be tremendously successful to obtain these things. Does this question make sense to you?
Can you provide some clarity to what I should be focusing on?
Ontario, Canada
A Your question makes sense and is a common issue with students who are beginning to work with Mind Power. When people ask me how much is too much, I usually answer this way: "You crawl before you walk. You walk before you run." In other words don't try to do too much in the beginning because you'll just disperse the energy. Better to focus on one or two things and manifest them first. My suggestion is to focus on your business success, because through this all the other things will happen. Hope this helps.
Q I have a shadow of doubt that has been chasing me for years when I think about the evolution of my jobs and relationships. I have trained my mind in the past, and with quite a bit of success, but just temporarily. It seems that I do improve my social life and then, after a while, the situation degenerates to previous levels or even worse. Sometimes it is because I made a mistake fair enough but, quite often, it happens because of a negative external factor over which I have no control at all, such as a friend is promoted overseas or has problems at work that dramatically changes the situation; I join a nice group of people that then starts to have problems and after a while splits, and so on. The outcome tends to be the same: I don't have the kind of relationship I'd like to have. When this becomes a constant, is it because of an inner thought/beliefs? It is pretty much the same at work. I have had pretty good jobs at powerful companies, but have been quite unlucky with the team I was told to join (more than once I was hired and joined a department no one within the company wanted to).
What pisses me off is the fact that I have worked real hard for my priorities, and even though I am a very positive person, in these already mentioned topics I am not any more. It seems that I always find a large stone in my path. I am in my 30s, though I already have the feeling of having wasted my life, not having command of it, while there are so many things I'd like to do.

A Two things you should consider. Firstly, you must take full responsibility for your life and what happens to you. If you are having problems in these two areas then the cause is something within you. Starting from this premise, you can begin to investigate.
Secondly, the issue seems to be your relationships with other people. What is your attitude towards others? Are you comfortable with people? Are people comfortable with you? Are you arrogant and uncompromising? Do you bring out the best or worst in people?
Examine your thoughts, beliefs and actions with others. If you find something there then you can begin correcting it using Mind Power. If nothing shows up through this line of questioning, then I would suspect you have a subconscious imprint that is sabotaging you. Recurring patterns in our life are almost always because of faulty and limiting beliefs on a subconscious level. Explore the subconscious using the techniques you learn in the Mind Power Into the 21 st Century book and from this Web site.
Seek and you will find is a law in the vibrating matrix.
