Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

February 2007

Q I have always wanted to ask about when you lived in the woods for three years-what
was the longest period of time that you did not see another human being, and was there a significant event/calling which made you leave the woods after three years?

Auckland, New Zealand

A The longest time that I spent in the woods without seeing another person was probably two or three weeks. When I tell people that I spent three years in the woods, many people assume that I never saw another human being for three years, which is not true at all. My cabin was about a twenty-minute walk in from a dead-end road, and at the end of the road I had a car, so on average I would probably go into the nearest town once or twice a week. But sometimes there would be weeks where I never saw another person.

Those three years in the woods were the most enlightening, nourishing time of my life, and it is during this time that I put together the principles that I teach in my Mind Power seminars and in my book Mind Power Into the 21st Century. Also in my new book, The Practice of Happiness, I have a number of stories about the time I spent in the woods, so those of you who are interested in that time, and have not yet seen The Practice of Happiness, I suggest that you obtain this book for yourself.

Q Provided one is limited in time, and there are many goals one wants to accomplish in a short period of time, how does one justify that one needs 60-90 days to change your mind set, or before your subconscious mind cultivates the new thoughts? How should one accomplish all of their goals? In other words, can a person work on more than one goal at a time, or should I take one at a time?

Boynton Beach, Florida

A There are two questions that you are asking me, so I will answer both of them. A person can work on more than one goal at a time. You are not limited to only one goal. However, you should not try to accomplish twenty or thirty things at a time, as this just disperses your energy.

Also, if you're new at working with Mind Powers, it is a good idea to pick only one or two goals to work on at one time, because as the old saying goes, you crawl before you walk, you walk before you run. So in choosing goals for yourself, be aware of how familiar you are with the Mind Power techniques, how dexterous you are at working with them. And then I suggest you work, at a maximum, at four or five things at a time.

Also, regarding the 60 to 90 days to change a mind set, your subconscious begins to work on the material that you feed it immediately. So you will see results well before the 60 to 90 days. Sometimes you can see results literally within two or three days of working the techniques. What I do say about the 60 to 90 days is that it has been my experience, in working with Mind Powers, that to change a belief within oneself and to take on new beliefs, 60 to 90 days seems to be the magical amount of time that is needed in order to permanently change a belief, a concept or a particular mind set within yourself. But that does not mean that things will not be working prior to that.

Q Recently, using Mind Powers, whatever I desire is given to me. Until recently though, I seemed to feel that people were getting on my nerves a lot, and on my second day of work I was an hour late because I got off the bus at the wrong stop and had to walk for 30 minutes. I almost got fired at the end of the day. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I was thinking maybe you could help me on this? I gotta tell you though that what has happened to me in the past 2 weeks, I would not have achieved in the next 4 months without Mind Power. Thanks.

Johannesburg, South Africa

A Congratulations for using Mind Powers successfully. This will give you wonderful confidence in using it in all areas of your life. Recognize that in life there are many experiences, some joyful, some unpleasant, and that life is always reflecting to us the energy and vibration of who and what we are. If you find that people are getting on your nerves a lot, then look within yourself to find out why this is. Are you being too harsh with people? Maybe you need more compassion. Maybe you need to relax more. There are many possibilities, but use this as an opportunity to look within yourself and see why it is that you are feeling like this. Once again, congratulations on your success. And all the best.

Q I have just started reading your book for the 3rd time and I seem to find something new each time. My question is, where in Sydney can I purchase your audio tapes (or preferably on CD)? I have visited the larger bookstores and they just don't have a clue.

Sydney, Australia

A The Mind Power book will give you new information every time you read it. There is an old Chinese saying, "If you read a book a thousand times, you're bound to understand it." While a slight exaggeration, the point is that one reading is rarely sufficient for a book with so much information.

Regarding tapes (and as of next year, CD's), they are not available in any retail outlet - only on the web. We have an excellent selection and will be adding new titles next year as well.

Q This is about the request in your July topic to hear from anyone having a dream that has helped him or her. I recently experienced that. I had decided to attend massage therapy school, which began in July, and although I felt I'd made the right choice, I had a nagging feeling that it wasn't the right time. Lots of things were going on and I didn't think I was prepared financially (or in any other way) to take on a lot more in my life, so I decided to postpone school for 6 months.

I fretted over this since I was simultaneously feeling a sense of urgency to embark on a new career. Finally I took the time to repeatedly tell my intuition that I trusted that it would tell me if I was making the right decision to postpone things. Within a week I had a dream that, once I awakened from it, gave me an instant sense of rightness and peace. Basically my dream showed me as being in the line of danger and yet I symbolically avoided it without any harm to me. This dream was incredibly clear even though it was filled with symbolism. I knew without a doubt that I had relaxed enough to let my intuition come through and affirm that I had indeed made the right decision.

You have mentioned that sense of peace which lets one know that it's truly your intuition making itself known. That wonderful feeling was very strong, and it's a great thing to experience.

Thank you for all your guidance and your practice of letting each of us learn it for ourselves.

A Thanks for your e-mail. It is so reassuring to know that answers are always there for us when we take the time to ask and listen.

A Our dreams are incredibly informative and when they speak to us and we interpret them correctly we do get a great sense of well-being and security. Thank you very much for sharing this with our Web site and I wish you all the success.

Q What tips do you recommend for relaxing and concentrating on the image of myself as I want to be.
What I mean by relaxing is that when I am in a confident state, I am overwhelmed with the ability of Mind Power (it really works). I get anxious. I need to relax. In other words, I need to be patient in coming to the results. This has caused me to procrastinate with my exercises. Another problem is concentrating. I become sidetracked or easily distracted. What tips do you recommend? This too has caused me to procrastinate.

New Jersey

A In my courses I like to share with people that there are 157 excellent good reasons why not to do the mind power work. That's the great trickster, our own mind, talking (our mind is our best friend and worst enemy). Our mind can find all kinds of reasons to keep us from doing the work. You mention that you seem to procrastinate a lot. This is very common. And what you need to do is relax. Perhaps your mind is using this as a reason why not to do the work.

Concentration and the ability to work with mind powers come with practice. Really, it comes down to you asking the question, "Do I want to see results or don't I?" Mind Powers is not a philosophy. It is not positive thinking. It does not happen magically. It happens because you take the time and effort to spend five, ten, fifteen minutes a day programming your mind for what it is that you want to manifest. So start affirming to yourself that you do your exercises every day. Start visualizing yourself as being productive, getting things done, doing your exercises, being the type of person that rises above the procrastination. When you can start to imprint your mind in this way, I think you'll find that mind powers a, s work very well for you.

Q I have the virus condition called herpes and would like to know if there is a positive
affirmation you could help me with to eliminate it?

British Columbia, Canada

A There is an affirmation that works well for all physical ailments. "Every day in every way I'm getting better and better." This affirmation was originally created by Emile Cou, a French physician who founded healing clinics all over Europe and North America around the turn of the 20th century. He found that this affirmation used along with regular medical treatment, helped cure many people.

Interestingly enough, almost 100 hundred years later John Lennon, who obviously was familiar with his material, taught this to his son Sean in the song, "Beautiful Boy". His lyrics are "Before you go to sleep, say a little prayer. Every day, in every way it's getting better and better."

I like this affirmation because it is gentle and easy to say and believe.

Q I am not sure if I am visualizing correctly. When I practice visualizing I'm doing whatever it is I want to do, but there are no pictures. I can't see anything. There are only the thoughts in my mind. Is that how to visualize?
New Zealand

A Often when visualizing, especially in the beginning, you don't always get pictures. Sometimes you just sort of see images or get feelings or think about the thing that you want. That is fine, just lose yourself in those feelings and images and allow your thoughts to focus on whatever it is that you want to achieve. Quite often what will happen is images come after you have done visualization regularly and consistently for a number of days or weeks. So don't concern yourself at all that there are no images when you begin to visualize. Just think and vibrate with the energy of having what it is that you want.

Q We have been using your tape to manifest money for about 6 weeks now faithfully every morning. I've noticed some more money coming in but also it seems that other areas of our lives are going more smoothly. Would you mind explaining the possible synergistic effects that we are experiencing?
Berkeley, California

A This is one of the exciting aspects of mind power and it happens all the time. You work on one area of your life and others improve. the reason for this is that you are changing your energy and vibration and this spills over into all areas of your life. Congratulations on your success. Keep working with it and watch what happens.

Q I have been offered a sales job in an industry that I have wanted to work in for some time. My present job pays well, is secure and comfortable, but I have an opportunity to change, earn more money and travel. The problem is I risk losing it all if I don't sell to meet a $2M sales goal. I have decided to take it, but I'm dead scared. I'm trying to be positive, but is there any advice that you can offer? In addition, do you have any upcoming seminars or training sessions in Vancouver, B.C.?
Burnaby, Canada

A Congratulations on making the move. Billionaire Rupert Murdock, founder of News Corp, has a saying, "Fortune favors the bold." It's a bold decision to give up something safe for something that promises more, but has more risks. Making the move shows you have courage. Don't be afraid; you have nothing to fear when you use your Mind Power. You mention you are trying to be positive - don't try to be positive, be positive. Begin a program of Mind Power. See yourself being tremendously successful; tell yourself you are a super salesperson.
Have an acknowledging list. I suggest obtaining my tape, "Incredible Sales Success." It was specifically designed to help sales people harness the powers of the mind. Spend 10-15 minutes doing Mind Powers and you will achieve your $2 million sales goal with ease. In fact, you could double it if you wanted to.

Once again, congratulations on your confidence in making this move. In regards to seminars in Vancouver, I will be doing a series of Mind Power talks in September or October of 1998. It will be posted on the website two months in advance.

Q This isn't a question, rather an ideTake one risk per day. I've only just started doing this; however I'm getting better and better... very fast. I feel this is a very good way of breaking down mental barriers.
Christchurch, New Zealand

A Well said. The journey of even a 1,000 miles begins with one step. One step then leads to many. Be creative with your growth and self-improvement. Thanks for sharing something that is working well for you. Anyone else got any good ideas that you are using and are working for you? Send them in and maybe we'll post them.

Q I desperately want to be a stay-at-home mom. I have been working with your program since January to reinforce this belief. I really became dedicated around February to making sure that I practice all techniques once a day, and I have stuck to it. My affirmation is that I'm a stay-at-home mom and a multimillionaire. I visualize myself taking care of my daughter at home every day and winning the lottery to be able to accomplish this. But I haven't seen any results. Can you steer me in the right direction?

I read in your Q & A section that the lottery is not the most likely way to become a millionaire, but I'm not sure how else I would accomplish this. My main goal is to be a stay-at-home mom, should I just focus on that solely? Do you think the multimillionaire portion is what is holding me back? Thank you.

Barnhart, Missouri

A I'm a great believer in having your cake and eating it too, but your question opens up an interesting dilemma. It seems in many ways that what is needed to be a stay-at-home mom and what is needed to become a multimillionaire are pulling you in different directions. I'm not surprised you're not seeing results. It's like setting off on a trip with two totally different destinations. You must make a decision on which one will be the primary destination and then you can map out a route and design strategies. It sounds like you've made that decision. Manifest the first to where you're happy and content with what is happening in your life, and then you can move on to the second if, when the times comes, you still want it.

Q This is about following the call. I've read your Mind Power Into The 21st Century and this website, but I'm still unsure how to find the call to follow if I don't know what it is.

I don't want to sound greedy, as I have a great job that I enjoy and that offers me everything, but the pay is very bad. My husband is in a bad way and wants to retire soon; however we cannot do this on my pay. I feel I need to follow the call and work out a way to make enough money for him to retire. However, even though I have lots of ideas, I have no confidence I can carry them through, or a "gut feeling" that they will work. How can I figure out which one is the right one to go for, or should I just count my blessings and stay in my job knowing at least some money is coming in?

I appreciate your time in answering my questions. I think your books are very helpful.

South Africa

A I'm pleased you've read Mind Power Into the 21st Century. It is by far my most successful book, having sold over one million copies, and it contains life-changing information. However, I've written five books and each of them is equally powerful in their own way and message. I mentioned in my previous answer that The Practice of Happiness contains many valuable keys, especially to change and following your call.

To answer your question, you begin to follow your call by following your passion. You might not know what your call is, but you do know what gives you pleasure and what you love to do. Pursue these things and honour what "feels right" to you, and your call will be revealed.
