Q: I am 23 yrs old. I have read your book twice. I really would like to make something of my life. A weird thing is that I know my weaknesses. I analyze how I think and do things, and in that way I am able to discover why I act like I do. For instance I have a mind block about learning, but the reason I have this is because I believe that I can't become good at it. My main question to you is how to motivate my self to practise the suggestions in your book. I really lack motivation in most things that I do... unless I enjoy it. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

A: I have a couple of suggestions for you. First of all, you mention that you have a mental block about learning. Why you have this belief I cannot tell. Perhaps it's something from very early in your childhood that a parent or schoolteacher said to you and you've taken it on as your belief and now you just keep living out that reality. What I would suggest is that you look for areas in your life where you have been good at learning. It's a very interesting thing that the mind takes a position and then finds all kinds of support for it. So you have been supporting the concept of you not being good at learning. Why not take on a position that while sometimes you are not good at learning, sometimes you are good at learning. Start looking at areas where actually you have been very good at learning. I think you're going to surprise yourself by finding out that indeed in some areas you have been very good at learning.
You also mention that you lack motivation in most things unless you enjoy it. Well here's one of the keys to using Mind Powers - every time you do your exercises you will find enjoyment in doing them. Always when you finish doing these exercises you feel good. You feel confident, you feel inspired, you feel productive. There is a great joy and satisfaction in actually doing the exercises. So remind yourself of this, set yourself up a Mind Power program, get over your procrastination, and make yourself a very successful and happy life.
Q: It seems, after much reading, that all of the great ones talk a lot about visualization and vibration. Is there some key element which ties all this together?
Australia
A: All of the physical universe is made up of vibrations of energy. This is the essence of the physical reality that we know and understand. Beyond this, the different levels and dimensions of reality are made up of subtle vibrations of which mankind only faintly understands. The reason that vibration and visualization are talked about by all the great ones is because to understand reality one must also understand the nature of vibration. If we can think of everything as being a vibration, our anger being a vibration, our lack of money being a vibration, our happiness being a vibration, or success at our goals being a vibration, if we can bring this down to the common denominator that all things that happen to us are vibration, then we are closer to understanding how we can begin to manifest and create in our life.
Visualization is the technique of using your mind to imagine things that which you want to have happen to you. When you're doing this, it is not idle daydreaming, it's creating within yourself vibrations of energy. It's creating within your mind a holographic picture of exactly what it is that you want, and this image, when repeated over and over and over again, will act upon the nature of the universe. It will attract the people, the circumstances, the events, the synchronicity that matches the images that you have within. That is why it is such a powerful technique, and that is why all the great religions, all the great teachers, all the great men and women down through the ages have understood this principle and taught it.
Q: I discovered your book "Mind Power" by accident, trying to find something in my partner's drawer. I believe everything happens for a reason. I'm very motivated by your mind exercises, but deep inside of myself, I still don't know what I really want to do. I think about thousands of ideas and opportunities, but after awhile I just can't get excited enough to move on.
Your book brought me a lot of confidence, I have been practicing the exercises, but my question is: Do you really think that my positive thinking can bring me the answers and opportunities I'm looking for, even knowing that right now I don't have any idea about what I want to do to be successful in life?
Los Angeles
A: You're not the only person who has no idea about what they want to do to be successful in life. Knowing and understanding what is appropriate for us is quite ofteratne of the most difficult questions that we will have to answer. I refer you to my past topic of the month, "Follow the Call."
One thing that you can be quite grateful for is that we all have a subconscious mind, and within our subconscious mind lie the answers to everything that we require in life, including what paths we need to take ― which are appropriate for us, which would be more fun, which would be more valuable. All these things exist for us in the subconscious mind. When you begin working with mind powers, you will access this power. It will not come immediately. It will come bit by bit. But the pieces will all fit together when you trust life and when you move courageously towards the things of your dreams, working with mind power principles.
Q: I'm experiencing an ongoing problem. I really would like to be successful vocationally. Recently, I visualized myself getting the job I want for a salary of $95,000. Well, I got the job and then stopped doing the visualizations (just taking a break, honest!). Two and a half months later, I lost the job for a reason I still can't figure out. The bottom line is, I'm smart, I'm nice, I'm ambitious, but seem to be lousy at jobs. I've reached the conclusion that visualizations will help me in the short term, but some belief deeply imprinted in my subconscious sabotages my efforts shortly thereafter. Please tell me what you think of the following
program that I'm doing to rectify this:
i) Visualizing getting a new job, PLUS affirmations of "I'm getting a GREAT new job that's
RIGHT for me."
ii) Reprogramming my subconscious with the affirmation, "My subconscious mind guides me to
success.". This affirmation I've started doing for 5 minutes before bed, plus 5 minutes when I
get up.
Please let me know if you have additional suggestions.

A: Yes, you seem to be doing everything right in your techniques, and I think they will work successfully for you. I might just point out a couple of things. First of all I would acknowledge myself for being so good at attracting great jobs. It seems that you do that quite successfully.
You are correct in saying that sometimes we have imprints in the subconscious that sabotage us, and anytime that we see reoccurring patterns in our life, we can suspect that there is something subconsciously that is manifesting that for us. You always look within for the things that are happening without. Having said that, I suggest that you begin visualizing yourself not just having the good job, not just getting the good job, but actually holding it and maturing in it and loving it, being with it for a number of years. So include this in your visualization, along with the other techniques. And also in your affirmations include "A job that I will love and stay at for many, many years," so that that becomes part of the imprint. Not just getting the job, but retaining the job and loving the job.
Q: I have really strong negative feelings towards another and it haunts me. I don't think that I can just pluck these feelings out because they are so strong. How can I rid myself of them?
New Zealand
A: The first thing to recognize is that these feelings are created within you and are having a detrimental effect upon you. While I don't suggest that people go around Pollyanna-like, loving every person they meet, your e-mail says it all when you write, "it haunts me."
I would suggest two approaches:
Firstly: Read the Past Topic of the Month "Eliminating Negatives" and use these techniques every time you find yourself thinking negatively about that other person.
Secondly, spend several minutes each day disciplining your mind to think of some positive qualities about that person. You might say they don't have any positive qualities but that's not true. Every person has positive and negative qualities. Nobody is one hundred percent bad or good. By disciplining your mind to spend several minutes thinking of their good qualities, you take away the immense psychic charge that has haunted you.
It works wonders, and while you won't end up loving and respecting the other person, at least those thoughts won't have power over you. Your thoughts are your responsibility.
