Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

October 2007

Q In 1998 I suffered through the worst year of my life. I lost two jobs due to layoffs in the oil industry. In March I lost a niece (pre-mature), my boss was murdered, my wife's grandfather died, my sister-in-law's dad died, I lost my home to bankruptcy, and on. I can't get the job or career I need to get me going again. I've read your book several times, but need more help!! Please reply with any suggestions.

Lafayette, Louisiana

A Well, the old expression that you have nowhere to go but up certainly applies in this case. It sounds like you have just had a horrific year, and my thoughts and compassion go out to you. I have several things to share with you. First of all the concept of "sacred wounding." And what sacred wounding means is that quite often the horrific experiences that we go through in our life cause within us a wounding, and this wounding carries with it value. The value that it carries is that it increases our compassion, or changes our awareness, adding something to us. While it is never pleasant to go through these experiences, quite often when we do, when we understand fully what they mean to us, when we notice our reactions and work through them, we come out in the end in a better place than where they started.

You also said that you have read my book several times. I would like to make a real distinction between reading my book and practicing the principles that are taught in the book. There is a huge difference between the two. Unfortunately most people will read the book and practice maybe one or two principles for a short time, get some results and then let go of it. You have to take Mind Power in as a discipline and practice it regularly and consistently.

And by the way when I say practice the principles, I'm not just talking about the principles in Mind Power into the 21st Century, but the principles that are contained in all my books, Money Success & You, A Vision of Power and Glory and The Practice of Happiness, as well. All my books are designed to get results, but reading them is only one level of understanding. Practicing them will give a whole different level. Hopefully by following this advice you will be able to move into more successful and happy years. All the best.

Q On page 11 of your book, Mind Power, you mention that one can learn to direct thoughts and create any consciousness; and in order to change your circumstances or reality, one must develop the necessary consciousness first. 1. How can one DIRECT his/her thoughts to develop the desired consciousness in the midst of daily activities that present contrary events consciousness? For example, how can a person change his/her circumstances or direct his/her thoughts from lack of money to abundance of money when he/she wants to buy something as if he/she had money, but realizes that he/she does not have enough money. 2. How can one develop abundance of money consciousness? Any techniques? Thank you.

A The question you have asked me is one that has perplexed and confused many people. How indeed do you change your thoughts when all around you is contrary evidence to what it is that you are trying to achieve in your life? "How do you create a prosperity consciousness when there is absolutely no money around?" is your question. One of the things you have to understand is that your thoughts are not limited by your reality. So that you can daily go into your mind and use your thoughts to have what I like to call a creating period. And during this creating period, whether it be for five minutes or twenty minutes, what you do is you use mind powers to imagine, see, feel, visualize, and vibrate with the exact quality or condition that you desire.
Now understand that your creating period in your own mind does not have to match your outer reality. You are not limited in your mind. While your outer reality may well be one of lack and limitation, during your inner reality you can create whatever circumstances you desire.
In fact this is the key; the wonder and the power of using your thoughts--they are not limited to your external reality. Now, when you do this once or twice you see very little effect, internally or externally. But when you enter upon a daily program, you begin to create this vibration within you. And when you create this vibration within you, you ten begin to attract the people, the circumstances, the events, the synchronicity that match the images that you have within.
So don't concern yourself about your outer reality. Concern yourself only with how your consciousness is functioning, the thoughts and beliefs and ideas that are in your mind. These will eventually manifest as your reality.

Q Not a question, advice rather. Several students have sent you mail asking why their visualizations haven't manifested. There is a simple answer. Perhaps they are asking for too much, too soon. There appears to be a universal law which prohibits waste. The occult author Ophiel refers to its effect as "The Sphere of Availability" and states that it is the most important reason why visualizations fail. If you can hardly afford to buy food and you visualize buying a car, you probably won't achieve your goal. This is because you wouldn't be able to use the car properly. If you can't afford food, how could you afford fuel, insurance, tires, etc.? Visualize for a steady job first, then go for the car. You can attract anything you want-just be logical and start small. Each new object or condition you attract enlarges your Sphere of Availability, enabling you to attract more.

A All goals can be broken down into smaller steps and achievements. You can have the large picture and still visualize and acknowledge the steps along the way. Thanks for the input.

Q Two questions:

1. I'm doing my affirmations in English, but would they work better if I would do them in my first language?

2. I'm doing my affirmations about 10 to15 minutes after I've awakened, but it often feels as if I'm getting confused, and losing focus. Is it also as effective to do them about an hour after I am up and dressed, in order to be more concentrated? I've started to do them while I'm driving to work, as I start out at 6:00 in the morning and there is not very much traffic. Can this work as well?

A Let me first of all share my joy that this website is available to so many people in so many different countries. It thrills me to hear from you all, and hopefully I'm helping not just those whose questions I answer, but all those who read the Questions and Answers section as well.

Now regarding your question. Do your affirmations in whatever language you feel most comfortable with. The subconscious works with all languages.

Regarding when to do your affirmations. It really is a matter of choice. If you feel too distracted 10 to 15 minutes after awakening, then leave the affirmations to a time where the practice feels more comfortable. Driving to work is an excellent time to do them.

Q I find it hard to stick with my program. Some days my work keeps me tied up for 12 to 14 hours, but I must also add not a day goes by that I don't think and dream of the life I want. Is that okay or is my Mind Power not strong enough to 'reach' my will? Thank you not only for already making a difference in my life but also for all that I am going to achieve due to your books.

A I can certainly sympathize with your difficulty in sticking with the program. This is one of the obstacles that Mind Power students have to surmount. It is so easy not to do the exercises. It is the easiest thing in the world. We make up reasons why not to do them. We make up excuses why not to do them. And some of our reasons and excuses of course are very valid. You say that you often work twelve to fourteen hours a day. Well, if this is the case, then maybe what you need to do is try to fit in your Mind Power exercises in different segments. If for example, you're going to dedicate twenty minutes a day to achieving your goals using Mind Powers, why don't you break it up into two ten minute segments. You can always find time to do two ten-minute segments in a day. Really it's a decision that you make whereby you want Mind Power to work for you. Unfortunately thinking and dreaming about what you want in your life is not doing Mind Powers.
You will be pleased to learn that there will be a new tape available next month called, "Setting Up a Mind Power Program." This tape has been very popular with students of mine who take the Mind Power course. In the tape I describe my experiences when I first began working with Mind Powers, especially the difficulty in starting and continuing doing Mind Powers regularly.

And a note to all our readers; next month we will be having a whole new format on the website, with new features as well as new products. We're looking forward to keeping a tremendous website for all of you.
