Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

April 2008

Q John, thanks for your book. I have a question about Mind Power and luck. Does Mind Power have any effect on luck? Let me explain why I ask. I love playing poker. If I could that is all I would do. Is there any way to use Mind Power and become more lucky in card games? It is all about energy isn't it? I am just curious. Thanks for the good books and your teachings.

A I have a great anecdote in my book Money, Success and You that tells how I programmed myself to be lucky by repeating to myself, "Just my luck," every time something good happened to me. Of course almost everyone uses this expression when something unpleasant happens to them, which is basically programming your mind to believe that you are unlucky. I however did the opposite. At first it was almost like a game, something fun and different to do. However, over a period of months I started thinking of myself as someone who is very lucky. I became what I was saying to myself. So if you want to increase your luck, try following the same process. I have taught this trick to many people and it works every time.

Q I want to know if your method keeps in mind GOD and if you believe in GOD?

A When asked about God I like to quote a Zen master who was asked a similiar question. His answer was, "If you believe in God I don't. And if you don't, I do." He wasn't being confrontational; he was simply stating that each of us has a different view of what God is, and that it is usually impossible to agree on our conception of God unless we belong to a similiar religion, and even then we can disagree. I am not religious but deeply spiritual, and as such have a very profound relationship with the Great Mystery known as God. I like the expression Great Mystery because it allows me to have a relationship with something beyond myself without my having to understand exactly what it is. As an added note, if one wishes to deepen their relationship with God, or whatever you conceive the Great Mystery to be, you can do that using Mind Power. The Bible, for example, is filled with Mind Power principles and practices, although it is not called Mind Power. Jesus for example says, "Whatsoever things ye pray for and ask for believing that ye have received it, ye will receive it." Contemplate this statement deeply, and you will be given a great key for enhancing your relationship with God.

Q I would like to let you know that had it not been for you, I would have given up on life years ago. You gave me the power and the strength to go through life with no fear, and I do thank you for that. Matters of the heart, Mr Kehoe, matters of the heart!! I've been in two unsuccessful relationships, and even though things didn't turn out as I wished they would, I do appreciate and value what I've been through. I've learned a lot about myself and life in general. My question is, how do you move on mentally? The thing is, on the outside I have moved on; I've closed all the doors and started a new life with someone else, but within, I haven't moved on. I get positive thoughts about this relationships and then suddenly I get negative thoughts and start thinking about how I was hurt and dissappointed. How do you get rid of all the thoughts about the past, because I believe that when you think about your ex while in a relationship with someone, it's cheating. What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts about this.

A There is an old song from the sixties by by Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. In it there is a line, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." It is only natural to have feelings about a past relationship even though you are in a new one. Allow yourself these feelings; they are to be expected, just don't indulge in them constantly. You don't need to fight them, for if you do they only become stronger and more persistent. At the same time you need to "love the one you're with." So you practice thinking thoughts of your new relationship and how rewarding and meaningful it is to you. You love the one you're with. If you can't love the one you're with then maybe that means that it's not the right relationship for you, and if that is the case then move on and find someone you can love. Ah... as you say, "Matters of the heart." Always the most difficult, yet at the same time always the most rewarding.

Q I have been saying my affirmations daily for 10-15 minutes, but cannot seem to focus on positive thoughts. My mind is constantly bombarded by angry thoughts about my life being difficult while I'm trying to affirm the opposite. I can't seem to visualise positive things. I have read your book, Mind Power, several times but struggle to seed. Please advise.

A Rome was not built in a day. Neither is a new consciousness. The wonderful thing about this Mind Power system is that it is a system of practices that, when followed, produces results. However, if your mind
has been conditioned to think negative and angry thoughts, using affirmations for a few days will not automatically override everything else. I'm not sure whether you have been practicing this system for several days, weeks or months. If you have been doing it for months you should definitely be seeing results. Results always follow the actions. Reading the Mind Power book can be inspiring, but ultimately it is your thoughts that will either lift you to a new reality or hold you where you are. Keep following the system. Persist and practice daily. You will see results.

Q First off I would like to thank you for your book. Nay - I can't even begin to thank you for sharing that knowledge with the rest of the world! I believe that everyone has created their "destiny" prior to his or her own incarnation (that is when we are only souls, with no material to make things more difficult), and if everyone starts changing their reality, wouldn't that hinder our "life plan" - the lessons that we're pre-set to come across and learn as we go?

A Your ultimate destiny is to awaken and discover yourself as a creative force in your life. From this realization you begin to intuit the appropriate paths that are yours to follow. Our life plan is simply to
awaken and fulfill our destiny as we conceive it to be. Mistakes are sometimes made, and nothing is one hundred percent, but when you trust and act and listen within, you will be guided. Everything else is just
details.

Q When your own immune system is attacking you as in rheumatoid arthritis, it seems counterproductive to use Mind Power to strengthen the immune system. How does one get around this, when your goal is health and healing?

A

I am not familiar with the details of rheumatoid arthritis, but you might try designing a system of working with your thoughts that promotes healing and feels comfortable for you. If you are uncomfortable strengthening the immune system, then use something else. The possibilities are literally unlimited. Perhaps you could imagine healing energy going into the hands, or a cooling feeling. Maybe you visualize the inflammation decreasing and disappearing. Or you could use an affirmation such as, "Every day in every way I'm getting better and better." Be creative and have fun with it. Anything that is repeated in words or visualized daily will have a beneficial effect. Check out some of the topics on this site under the Body/Mind section.

Q I am so happy that you have continued your great work, John. I went to a seminar at the Sydney Hilton way back in the early '90s. I have read your original "Mind Power" and continued to buy more of your books, i.e., Money Success & You and the new updated version of your Mind Power into the 21st Century. I have also read many other books relating to Mind Power techniques, and I honestly think they have taken notes from your books. It is now some twenty years later and I am starting a fresh new study of your system. The only reason the Mind Power techniques lapse is due to NOT PRACTICING the procedures daily. Keep up the good work John, you are still inspiring me after twenty years. I am so glad that you now have an internet site, as I can now keep updated with your progress.

A Thanks for your kind words. This month marks thirty years of my teaching Mind Power, and in that time I have toured to many cities and met many people. It is always nice to hear from my past students. Nowadays I don't do so much touring (See L.A. seminar)  but will continue to teach via this website and new books and CDs. All the best.
