Learn Mind Power - Questions & Answers

May 2008

Q:

You write about stalking your internal dialogue. What does that mean?

A:

One level of working with Mind Power is to be aware of how and what we are thinking. We know that the thoughts that we regularly think will form patterns and eventually lodge themselves in our subconscious mind. So we become conscious of this process. Stalking your internal dialogue is being vigilant in discovering the patterns of thought we habitually indulge in. Perhaps we are overly critical of ourselves or others. Perhaps we worry about money a lot. Maybe we are feeling sorry for ourselves because we're not in a meaningful relationship. When you stalk yourself you make notes in your daily journal and, over a period of weeks and months, patterns will reveal themselves. Stalking allows you to see yourself without illusion, and from there you can design a strategy to either enhance these patterns, if they serve you, or eliminate them if they are harmful to you.

Q:

I am a 28-year-old Bulgarian woman who has lived in Barcelona, Spain for the last 5 years. A week ago I watched some Bulgarian television that aired a programme about your studies and how people who have listened and followed your theories have reached the success they wanted...which made me curious, and I am going to buy your books and try it!

To be honest, I have been trying to believe in the strength of thought and to think positively in the last few years, but my unfortunate lack of self-esteem and belief in myself has made me pass through many ups and downs during that time. My question is, is it possible to find a love partner by the way I think? Because the everlasting topic of LOVE is one that is important for me. I have always selected the wrong men as partners. Now that I have found one he is far away, but for the first time I would like to believe that, despite the distance, it's not impossible for us to be together some day! Maybe it's trivial, maybe it's not, but I would appreciate your reply. And even if I don't get that, because I am sure you have millions like me, with their worries and imperfections, I am going to follow your books and DVDs and try to improve my mind! Thank you!

A:

I'm so happy that you are being introduced to my work. We have a large following in Bulgaria due to our Bulgarian publisher, someone who believes passionately in this practice and works tirelessly to get the message out to as many people as possible.

You will be encouraged to learn that many thousands of people have used Mind Power techniques to attract a meaningful relationship. So not only is it possible, it is easy to manifest your ideal partner. Your lack of self-esteem and poor self-image are due to the way you have been thinking. This is not your fault, as you have never been shown a more productive way of using your thoughts. Through this free website you can learn the basics, and through my books and CDs you can build on this to master Mind Power. I would suggest that you begin by focusing on all your positive qualities - why you would be a good partner for someone. This way you are creating a vibration of success and not a vibration of need, which is what we often do when we don't have something. Also think about what kind of person you want to attract, and begin having a clear mental image of this person. You don't need to see the physical qualities, just the types of things that are important to you, generous, fun, good natured etc. Start focusing on these things daily and you will find your ideal mate. Of course there is much more, but this will be a good start.

Q:

I have two very important questions for you which I couldn't find an answer to in the archives. I've worked with the Mind Power techniques for one and a half years and, what shall I say, I am a very lucky person. Many things are falling into place without me even affirming them. So I deeply believe in the system since it has changed my life so much for the better. But still, some things remain unclear for me.

My questions:

1. Since the whole Universe is working at the same time, the affirmations and visualisations - positive and negative - of others can also affect your life for the worse, is this right? I just experienced this I think. I moved into a wonderful flat with a wonderful flatmate and it was perfect. I was thankful for it every day and never thought this would be taken from me. But then the owner, a woman, broke up with her boyfriend and is moving back in, so now I will have to leave my flat soon and I'm very very sad about it.

So, if this woman´s thoughts have made her get into this breakup, then through this she affected my life as well. So, in this way a lot of negative things can still happen to us, even if we think very positively and do our techniques every day. What do you think about this issue? For me this is a big conflict.

2. Is it possible that vibrations of desperation destroy our work of visualisation and affirmation? Because I have been single for two years, but for at least a year I've tried to change this through working with Mind Power - without any success. But just a short while ago I found out that I had really terrible feelings about my situation and changed them from: "It's sad and lonely to be single," to: "Now is my time to use the loneliness to create big success and self-development for myself." And now I feel so reassured, as if a big stone has been taken from my shoulders. Do you think the belief that my situation was bad did stop me from achieving the state of being in a relationship? Right now I even don't care so much if I will find a relationship or not. Should I still do my exercises in this direction though?

A:

Question #1

While this woman's negative thoughts created her situation, it did not create yours. Yes, on one level her moving back in had an effect on you, but all things are happening because of a larger reality, and we need not concern ourselves with how others are thinking. From a Mind Power perspective we need only to monitor and direct our own thoughts.

Question #2
This is an excellent strategy for changing your focus. A vibration of desperation will most certainly have an effect - and a negative one at that - in attracting a relationship. So doing what you are doing is terrific. When it feels right and appropriate you might change this into being open to a new relationship, but continue with what you are doing now and feeling comfortable in your situation.

Q:

I am a medical student, age 20, and I have suffered from depression all my life. Specifically I've a problem with procastination. I am late to classes or work or appointments. In all tasks I work to the last possible moment. I've tried several times, but maybe once or twice I was able to be on time. It persists in my life, and I'm unable to get rid of it, and I feel guiltly about it. How should I fight against it?

A:

Changing all habits, and procrastination is a habit, begins with choice backed by will. If you are tired of procrastinating, then make a choice to be someone who makes decisions and acts upon them. You can have Mind Power assist you by visualizing yourself as someone who gets things done, and also by using affirmations that support this, such as, "I act and get things done." Also think of all the results, how your life would be different if this is truly how you were. Include this in your visualization. Also don't forget to acknowledge yourself every time you act in this new way, thus rewarding your new habit. Do this regularly and your procrastination will be a thing of the past.

Q:

Two questions please. I have recently been shown how to get into a relaxed state (specifically alpha brainwaves). Have you ever taught such concepts and should this state increase the power of any of your techniques? Also do subliminal tapes work? Thank you John.

A:

Alpha waves occur when your mind is in a relaxed state. While I do not refer to the alpha state per se, I do advise all my students to relax the mind for several minutes prior to doing the Mind Power exercises. One simple way of doing this is to repeat to yourself for several minutes, "I feel calm and relaxed." A relaxed mind will take the suggestions and images more readily than a mind that is racing about all over the place.

Regarding subliminal tapes, I find it more effective to either repeat the messages yourself, or to hear them being repeated to you. That is why I created a whole series of 12-minute guided affirmation/visualization CDs to assist people in their manifestation.

Q:

Five years ago I started physical training and I made serious progress, but after two months I had to stop, because I had no money to pay for the gym and food. One year later I resumed training, but I made no further progress. For this period with me something happened; I lost my enthusiasm, and I couldn't succeed as before. Why this happened I didn't know, but I understand that I lost something great and fell into depression, and for two weeks of negative thinking I lost 10kg of muscles.

In June 2006 I began studying and practicing Mind Power and now I understand why this happened. There were two reasons:

1) I knew that if I didn't stop training a year earlier I could have already had all I wanted, therefore I didn't have the enthusiasm to achieve small short-term goals that I had when I first started training.

2) I imprinted limiting beliefs. I have read websites on bodybuilding; there are a lot of them suggesting it is impossible to succeed without genetic predisposition and steroids. Also I celebrated my 16th year, so I became "adult." I believed that I had become someone else, and I had a lot of negative beliefs about it. You very precisely describe what happened with me in the story about the prodigal son.

Now I'm trying to restore the beliefs about myself which I had at the age of 14-15 and remove all limiting beliefs. But what to do with the first problem? Is it possible to forget what I could have had? Because when I think that I could have had it all, it is impossible to train.

Even Arnold Schwarzenegger had similar problems. In the encyclopedia of bodybuilding he tells how he damaged a leg and could not train for some time. He lost muscles and could not restore them until he saw a therapist, who developed for him special exercises and relieved his self-pity and disappointment but he doesn't tell what exercises he did. Do you know?

A:

What you are going through is what almost all people go through on their way to success - temporary setbacks - and I want to emphasize the word temporary. The path to mastery in any discipline is the path of continuous practice. However, it is also the path of cycles, ebbs and flows. In my DVD Achieving Goals & the Subconscious Mind I share how the path to success is very often three steps forward, two sideways, one back, two forward, two back, one sideways, etc. The point being that it is never a straight line, with one victory after another and every day being better than the one before. You must relax in the process and be up for the full journey. Short-term goals are the key to achieving a larger success. When you have only a large goal and focus only on that, you miss the opportunity to celebrate the little victories and gain the success vibration that these little victories can give you. So while you work towards the large goal you use little goals as the means to propel you forward. Limiting beliefs can only hold you back, and if you have allowed them to be with you, you must replace them with supporting beliefs. Mind Power teaches you how to do this.

Finally I have no idea what methods Arnold Schwarzenner used to heal himself, but as I'm sure you are aware, he is a huge Mind Power proponent. Use Mind Power to attract the therapist or trainor who can help you with this issue.

Q:

Is there any scientific proof that your thoughts have an effect in your brain?

A:

When I began teaching 30 years ago, I intuitively knew that thoughts had a profound effect on the brain, but there was no scientific proof of that. Now new advances in neuroplasticity have proven, through various types of brain scans, that regular thought patterns will activate neurons, and these neurons will form new paths in the brain. Scientists used to think that this activity happened only in the very young brain, and that the brain curcuitry was totally hardwired by the time someone was an adolescent. Now we know that rewiring can and does happen throughout life when you work with thoughts in a regular system such as Mind Power. This is very exciting because it gives the student of Mind Power that much more confidence in practicing these techniques, as he or she no longer has to operate just on faith, but has scientific proof on their side.
