Q Hello and greetings from Bulgaria, John! I want to share with you how I found out that Mind Power works without any doubt. I bought and read your book Mind Power into the 21st Century. I had read books on the subject of the power of thoughts before, but for the first time I saw a clear system for how to apply it. I was very enthusiastic when I finished the book and told myself I will do the exercises no matter what. I practised visualisation, seeding, affirmations and creating a success vibration for only 3 or 4 days before this happened to me. In my thoughts I imagined having a girlfriend. She appeared to have black shoulder-length hair. Yesterday I had to travel on a bus for about 5 hours. When I got to the bus station, people were crowding around to load their luggage into the bus. Then I saw among them a girl who looked exactly the way I had imagined. She had black shoulder-length hair. That moment I thought, "That is her," and I was sure that she was going to sit next to me. And indeed her place was next to mine! I was stunned that this really happened, but I knew I had to talk to her. We talked, laughed, had fun and I got her phone number. Now I am going to continue to visualise, and even though this particular girl may not become my girlfriend, I feel so thrilled that I can create my future using Mind Power. Thank you for helping so many people make a change in their lives!
A Thanks for sharing your story. Sometimes it can take weeks and months before Mind Power kicks in and manifests for us, and sometimes it happens in days. What a wonderful sign that this is working for you. Keep up your exercises and have a great life.
Q I have read your book A Vision of Power and Glory and completely resonated to the process. I have been on a similar journey! and still have a bit to go. I am a complete believer in the power of the mind and the universe. I see it operate in my life on a miracle basis. My question is, however, I was listening to a wee bit of Eckhart Tolle and his teachings of the power of now. Does one create by having a desire and a belief, then by letting it go and living in the moment? I can't seem to wrap my head around consistantly living in the moment and never creating?
A Neither can I. Thank goodness there are many systems, so that each individual can find the one or two that resonate for them. I say one or two as we are not required to choose just one system. You can mix and match with philosophies just as you do with clothes.
Eckhart Tolle is very influenced by Zen Buddhism; however he does not teach the practice of Mind Power. Which is fine for him. He is following what is true for him, as all of us must do. I, however, like to combine the Zen system with Mind Power. This way I can live in the now, and enjoy the benefits of this, while simultaneously working with Mind Power. But aren't these contradictory systems? you might ask, and the answer is yes. That is why they work so well together. Complementary might be a better term. Each of us must design our own unique system that allows us to live a full, interesting, and self-fulfilled life.
Q When doing my affirmations/imprinting, I like to start first thing in the morning. In other words I try to get up earlier than anybody else in the house so my affirmation will be the first thing my mind hears. Does all of this really matter, or can a whole bunch of statements reach the mind in the morning and afterwards do the imprinting, and you still end up with the same effect?
A The most important thing is to make sure that every day you do some Mind Power exercises. It is the repetition - the daily part of the exercises - that is crucial. Having said that, I feel that the first half hour of your day is a very important time (I talk about this in the Home Study Program). It can set the tone for the whole day. So doing your affirmations in this period is a great way to go. Now not everyone is a morning person who finds this time to be convenient, and that is fine. But if you can, I recommend doing some of your exercises during this period.
Q Hi, I read your book and found it to be very informative, and I am going to practice the exercises. I am also using your techniques to help a friend stop smoking, and it seems to be working.
There is one thing I want to ask. Is there a way of finding out what you really want to do? I am 60 (a young 60), and I really want to change my life and do something different, I have looked at franchises, played with the idea of opening a coffee shop, working from home, even moving abroad. I just cannot decide. I am happy, in a good relationship, have children and grandchildren I love dearly, and work part time. However, I feel there is something missing, a lack of direction or fulfillment. Can you advise me?
A Congratulations. You have what I call Divine Dissatifaction. I call it divine because it is a gift. It is a gift from within yourself calling to you for change, and you have felt it. I also congratulate you on calling yourself a young 60. Too many people think they are old at 40. Every age and every stage of our life calls for change and movement, for us to be in tune with our deep inner longings. Feel your way into what "feels" right for you. You might want to use some affirmations such as, "I trust my feelings and act upon what I feel." Start recording your dreams and see what they are saying to you. The right answer is sure to come to you when you search for it. Trust synchronicity, omens, and don't be afraid to take some chances. You will be directed.
Q Hi John, Love your work and your book Mind Power into the 21st Century and I am at nearly 70 days of the "90-day programme." You say that Mind Power plus action brings the desired results, and that nothing is ever 100%, so you're next partner may not be the one, rather an interesting detour, and that the next job you interview for you may not get. Therefore why isn't lots of action minus Mind Power just as effective? Doesn't that still bring the same results?
A A good question. Lots of action is always a great practice, always produces results. I wish more Mind Power students understood this. Mind Power by itself, without the action, is usually ineffective. You must act and not just think of acting. However, action combined with Mind Power exercises definitely increases the effectiveness, as this adds another dimension to the process. Combining both attracts synchronistic events and harnesses the subconscious to assist you. So while action is powerful, action and Mind Power are more powerful.
Q Hi John, I have been a fan for a long time, and have been actively practicing Mind Power. My question is this: my little sister (46) has recently been diagnosed with MS. I have been advising her on the practice of Mind Power to heal. I was wondering if you can suggest some further reading material on the subject of Mind Power and healing. Or do you know of anyone in the Vancouver area who she could consult with on this subject?
A Nice to hear from a fellow Vancouverite. I will refer you to three resources, all on this website. First there is a wealth of material in the mind-body section of the articles. Secondly, the CD Health and Healing is a live seminar in which I talk about healing and give many techniques. Third, the CD Healing Yourself has been very effective in helping people. Finally let me say that MS is a condition that responds well to diet and other non-drug-related therapies. So with the right Mind Power exercises and attracting the right people and practices, there is no need to be concerned.
Q I have been doing Mind Power excercises for two weeks with no luck. I say my affirmations daily, but I have problems with visualisation and fighting negative thoughts. My mind is constantly negative, no matter how hard I try to fight it. When visualising, my mind tends to go on to focusing on negative things.
A That can happen. If you have been in the habit of thinking in a negative way this won't automatically change in just a week or two. The problems you are presently experiencing have undoubtedly preceeded your practice of Mind Power. The good news is that if you persist with your exercises, the hold that these negtives have over you will diminish, and you will begin thinking in a more positive way. Be persistent with your daily exercises. Soon you will experience the shift.
Q Dear Mr. Kehoe, I have a question regarding your article on "finding your passion." I 100% agree with you that we need to follow our passion in life. But I'd like to know, since you've discovered your passion, did you have any moments of doubts when you questioned whether this is your real passion? I would really appreciate it if you share your personal experience on this. Thank you very much!
A I want to share with you a quote from the brilliant artist Agnes De Mille: "Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how... The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark." You go with what feels right and follow it as long as it continues to feel right, and when it doesn't feel right anymore you find something new that does feel right. You take it day by day, week by week, year by year. Act. Trust. Don't be afraid of movement and change, and make sure you're having fun and enjoying what you're doing. That is a sure sign that you have found your passion. Also be aware that there is no ultimate passion or correct path for you. You have many options, and each will have its own distinct path. Pick a path with heart, one that resonates as authentic for you, and let it lead you where it may.
Q How can I overcome self-sabotaging? I just cannot seem to get down to doing work. I plan my work the day before, but when I get to work I spend hours surfing the web and doing other work that's not important.
A Procrastination is a hurdle that all successful individuals have to overcome. The good news is that it is normal; the bad news is that it becomes entrenched when not addressed. However, you recognize that it is not serving you, holding you back, so your motivation to change it is there. Start by creating an image of yourself as someone who does get things done. Visualize yourself being proactive and accomplishing a great many things every day. Feel the sense of accomplishment and the momentum of doing your tasks regularly and being on top of it all. Build this image within. You can also create affirmations that support this such as, "I'm motivated and accomplish a lot each day." Your daily Mind Power exercises will assist you greatly to become the individual you want to be.
