Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

November 2008

Q

Hi John, I am a great supporter and have read most of your books, as well as other books on the topic "your subconscious mind." I also daily try to practice your techniques on AFFIRMATIONS AND VISUALIZATIONS. Although I am a positive kind of person, I experience difficulties in the following areas:

* VISUALIZATIONS - I find it difficult to visualize outcomes like a huge bank account, lots of business and overall success. I tend to think of much smaller goals, no matter how hard I try.

* Affirmations - Although I practice your techniques every day in a positive way, and do affirmations particularly before I go to sleep or when I awake in the morning, I battle to get these positive thoughts through to my "subconscious mind." I call it me creative mind. I just get stuck somewhere. Any ideas on how to address and overcome these difficulties? Many thanks for your feedback.

A

First the visualization question: If you find it difficult to image a "huge bank account" then moderate your visualization to where it feels comfortable for you. For example, if you usually have two or three thousand dollars in your account, you could begin by imaging ten thousand. Then when you have ten thousand, you can begin imaging fifty thousand. You can take it in stages. You don't have to go from two thousand to two million. It is often adviseable to image the steps along the way, even when you are imaging the large goal. This is oftern ignored by people. After all, you can't go from two thousand to a million without the intermediate steps.

Affirmations: You don't have to battle with your affirmations to get them to the subconscious. If you are, you are doing something wrong. All you have to do is say them to yourself regularly, and they will quite naturally seep into the subconscious. There is no extra effort required. Practice daily and it will naturally happen.

Q

I have problems with conception. I've had three IVFs, which were all negative, and I have to go for another one, which has put my morale down and increased my fear of not conceiving. Will Mind Power help me?

A

Fear of not conceiving is a powerful force. And remember, we always attract to ourselves that which we focus on. Fear is focusing on what you don't want to happen. Not only that, but if you focus on it with emotion and intensity, it makes it all the more powerful. Fear is always counterproductive to what you want to achieve. So don't fear. If you read last month's topic, "What Me Worry?", it will help you and others who struggle with fear. Focus on what you want to happen for five minutes, twice a day using Mind Power techniques, and then let go of it. The letting go of it is important. Sometimes when we want things desperately, this desperation acts as a block. So drop all desperation and be willing to accept whatever life gives you. This is not settling for not having children, but rather taking away the desperation and fear. Daily exercises of visualizations and affirmations are a wonderful combination to assist you.

Q

I am interested to know if what I am going through at present is 'normal.' Love the Mind Power and all that is connected with it; it has been a part of my life for many years now. However, over the last five weeks I have been meditating daily for 30 minutes. This goes really well, feel awesome afterwards - for a few hours. Then for a couple of hours, I could just sit and cry, for no apparent reason. While I have dabbled with meditation in the past, this is the first time that I have done it every day, in the early morning. I am loving this, get deeper than I ever have before, and having just re-read your Vision of Power & Glory book earlier this week, I can totally relate to it this time. No hangups or anything similar in my life to cause this feeling, and it seems only to have started since I have gotten into deeper meditation. Is this a normal reaction? It disappears as quickly as it comes and I am back to feeling great. Many thanks.

A

An appropriate question to go with the topic this month: Body Wisdom. Your meditation is undoubtedly quieting the mind and allowing deeper feelings to express themselves. This is very healthy and nourishing. Feelings are the juice and energy of the body. When our emotions flow freely and abundantly we are authentic and in touch with hidden parts of ourselves. It is very normal to feel deep emotion with any type of meditation or body work such as deep massage.

Q

I know you have said affirmations should be kept short, but in my case, I want a job, and I already know exactly how to go after it and what I want, and I am doing a visualization and affirmations, but I think my affirmations are longer. Will this affect what I want?

A

It is nice to hear from someone in Mozambique. We are travelling to South Africa in January and planning a side trip to your country. We hear it is very beautiful. One of the keys to affirmations is that they must feel right to you. My experience is that a single sentence or even a phrase works very effectively because it is easily repeated and easily remembered. If you find that a longer affirmation of several sentences "feels" right for you, then by all means do it. Each person designs a system that works well for them. Another key is to do affirmations regularly and consistently, day after day, for weeks and months, in order to allow them to seep into your subconscious. Doing them for a few days here and there seldom has any long-term effect.

Q

Hello John, I would like to ask you what you think of magic and black magic in particular? Do you believe a certain person can influence your life because somebody who wishes you bad luck pays this person? It has become very popular nowadays for people to visit fortune tellers and pay for black magic to be removed from them. I personally believe in magic, but in the kind that everyone creates for his life. But I am just curious how the idea of magic intereacts with the ideas in your books?

A

Magic can be very powerful, as it uses the same principles as Mind Power, often with it's own particular theory and dogma attached to it. It is sad that people think they must go to a magician to cast some spell or remove a curse. The real power of this magician is the placebo effect people give to them. Much the same way that a doctor has a powerful placebo effect over the patient when he prescribes a drug. Not that he is not sincere in his treatment, or that the drug is not effective, but our belief in the doctor and the pill he is prescribing is a powerful factor too. So too with fortune tellers and magicians. Most of these people are harmless; they're just making a living, and may even be sincere, though some are outright charlatans. These individuals can be used for harmless fun if you wish, but never give your power over to someone else, and be aware of what is really happening. As you so eloquently put it, "I personally believe in magic, but in the kind that everyone creates for his life."

Q

Hi John, I saw your video on YouTube and it was great seeing you again, as the last time would have been nearly 20 years ago when you where doing seminars here in Wellington. Boy, time certainly flies. I have found that Mind Powers work wonders and I am very grateful to you. One thing that has been bugging me lately: why is it that some thoughts are more powerful than others, even though there is no concerted effort put into that thought, while some thoughts never happen, even though a geat amount of work is done? Thanks and I look forward to your answer.

A

I'm glad you saw the YouTube video. We have put up a number of videos which you can access on YouTube via this site. Some thoughts find more fertile ground than others. Sometimes we think certain types of thoughts and they imprint very quickly, while other thoughts have to be repeated time and time again before they imprint. We don't fully understand why this happens, but we are aware that it does. The good news is that any thought that is tended, cultivated and persisted in will eventually find a place in our subconscious. Once this happens it begins resonating day and night to attract to us the people, circumstances and events that are associated with that thought or desire. Sometimes it happens easily and sometimes it takes more work, but eventually it will manifest.
