Q
I believe strongly in Mind Power and affirmations, as the history of my life outlines how everything started with a thought, only to become a reality. Recently I have been struggling with saying my affirmations, which I do silently. They don't even last two minutes and I start drifting. Can you guide me as to why this is happening? Currently I have lots of visions of successful and happy things happening in my life, and I would really like to take it to the next level. Please help me.
A
Drifting is okay. You do not have to focus intently on the affirmations every time you say them. Having said that, are your affirmations inspirational and do they represent what you want to happen to you? If so, then you should be able to get really involved when you say them. Decide the length of time that works best for you. Maybe it is two minutes. If so then limit your affirmations to two-minute segments, but do them several times a day. Also have more than one affirmation. Sometimes having only one affirmation can be too repetitious as the mind likes diversity.
Q
My life is affected daily by your teachings – books and CDs. I was recently diagnosed with a lung condition which I am told is irreversible and degenerative. Scientific data gives me a pretty bleak outlook, especially since the lung is not able to regenerate itself. I prefer to believe that anything is possible, and to affirm that my lungs WILL regenerate. Am I in denial of medical science, or am I believer in miracles, which do happen? The way I see it, I have no choice BUT to believe in anything being possible, as it’s a matter of longevity versus a shortened life span. What are your thoughts on the subject John? I would be grateful for your feedback, thank you.
A
I like your attitude. Are you in denial? That depends what that means. Let us not deny that placebos have a very high success rate. Let's not deny that miracles (events which we don't understand) happen all the time. Let's not deny that thoughts are powerful forces. Let's not deny the power of love and gratitude and belief. I have seen many people cure themselves of what was termed irreversible. While it would be inappropriate for me to say that yes, one hundred percent you will cure yourself, it is also inappropriate for someone to say that one hundred percent you won't. Take this situation into your own hands and follow your instincts on what to do. This website is filed with healing information. And yes... miracles do happen, more often than people recognize.
Q
The book stores I visited don't have your material. Where can I find your material (books,cd's,dvd's) in South Africa?
A
All my books are widely available in book stores in South Africa. However, for CDs and DVDs they can be ordered through my website. Residents of South Africa will need to order from Robin Banks at www.robinbanks.co.za
Q
I am a born again Christian, believing in the word of God, and believing in Jesus Christ. I want to know, do you believe that God has given us the ability to be everything that we want to be? And I agree with a lot of things you have written about in your books; they are of great help. I strongly believe it is God who has given you the ability and wisdom to write the books you have written. Basically my question is do you believe in the word of GOD?
A
I am a great believer in the teachings of Jesus, and quote him often in my books and seminars. While I am not a Christian and prefer to be inspired by many sources, any individual will be well served by practicing the principles he teaches. I would like to quote two of my favorite scriptures: "...whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye have received them, and ye shall have them." Notice the very different change of tenses with the advice that we believe it first and then we will receive it. Second quote: He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." Here Jesus is letting us know that we are capable of very great things.
Q
This is not a question, more a bit of feedback. I recently obtained a copy of Emile Coué's book on affirmations, written about a century ago. He refers to affirmations as "autosuggestions". The point I found of interest, and of help, was where he stressed that you must not think when you affirm. You must not allow "the will" entry when you affirm. The will tries to reason. It's the same as your teachings, and I suppose seeing the point stressed by another author gave it more substance in my mind. He calls for students to affirm without thought , but with feeling. The greatest truths are always so simplistic Thank you for your website. I have been visitng it for over a decade now, and find it a great inspiration to me in my daily life.
A
Thank you for sharing these insights from Emile Coué. I quote him in one of my lectures and he has some great insights on affirmations.
Q
With the credit crunch and the global recession hitting everyone, I was wanting to know if it is the right time to start something new? Is it better to stay with the status quo or take the risk? Thanks very much for your answer.
A
Times of crisis or great change can be very opportune times to start something new. The law of constant change states that everything is in the process of becoming something new. This is happening at all times in every situation, and more so in these times. This means there are opportunities being created in even greater numbers for those astute enough to see them. This doesn't mean you rush off to start the first thing that comes to mind. You must do your research and be smart and thoughtful, but many people will be successful in these times. Why not you? There will always be risks in starting something new, but sometimes you risk missing an opportunity that presents itself. Trust your instincts, do your research, and act.
Q
Hi,John! I'm 18 years old and very enthusiastic about your work, because my mum bought me your book when I was feeling quite confused, unhappy and depressed. Your book inspired me a lot and taught me to believe in myself, to think positively and gave me much useful advice. But as you you say, it isn't enough to only think positively. I have a lot of questions and find difficulty in understanding all of the techniques. Therefore, it will be great if you decide to visit Bulgaria. But if you can't I will be glad if you just answer my questions: Is there fate? Are people pawns of fate, or are they able to change it and realize theirs dreams? Maybe you are sick of answering such questions, but I feel a big interest in them.
A
First some good news: I'm coming to Bulgaria to do a weekend seminar in Sofia in May. (For information please see http://www.fenix-bg.com
Now about fate: It is your fate that you were to discover this Mind Power book and learn about your personal power. I know this because this is what has happened. While I don't deny the effects of fate, I find too many people use this as an excuse to explain away their life, often when it is not unfolding the way they'd prefer. Mind Power uses the creative power of thoughts to shape our reality. When one masters Mind Power and applies it regularly in their lives, one masters fate and becomes what I call a "being of destiny." I have named it this because you are "being" your destiny by understanding the laws of the universe and applying them for your purposes. Great things happen to those that understand and apply these principles.
