Q

Most people's idea of the unconscious is as a closed Pandora's Box that's dangerous to open. How much does the unconscious influence our destiny?

A

There are two questions here. First, regarding the unconscious being a Pandora's Box that is dangerous to open. I would say the exact opposite is true. It is dangerous to not open it. Why I say this is that, unless you discover what beliefs, mythology, and hidden imprints you have resonating within, you will forever be unconsciously influenced by these contents. You should be excited to discover the inner contents of the unconscious, regardless of whether they are appealing or not, for when these secret parts of us are revealed, they release immense energy that previously had been captured by the unconscious, and this energy is now free to be used in a conscious way–to better our health, our relationships, our finances, our life. There are many safe and effective ways to do this. This process is what I have devoted my life to, and produces incredible results.

Secondly, the unconscious has a great influence on our destiny. Destiny is not preordained. It unfolds via our choices, thoughts and actions. The unconscious influences all three of these mentioned aspects, mostly without us even being aware of how it happens. For example, a person with an unconscious fear of success or intimacy might not know why he feels this way, but if he is honest with himself and vigilant in noticing what is happening in his life, he will become aware that he chooses situations that avoid these circumstances, and therefore that he thinks thoughts that reinforce these positions. Since thoughts are real forces, they attract to this individual the circumstances and situations that reinforce these thoughts. It becomes self-fulfilling, and all this happens without the person even being aware of how or why.

Q

Who are your books addressed to?

A

My books and seminars are addressed to the average person. I have a large following, and that is in part because I have made a very complicated subject easy. The number one comment I hear from people describing my books, especially the Mind Power book, is “It is so easy to read.”  I take that as a great compliment. It would be very easy to make it more intellectual and fill the book with psychological jargon, but why? Why not make it simple so everyone can understand.

Another question I am sometimes asked is, “Who is your audience?” I tried to find that out myself, but at first I couldn’t. Finally I came up with an answer that describes my audience. “Take the first thousand people at any busy intersection in a major city and put them in an auditorium, and that’s who attends my seminars.” It’s young, old, students, business people, rich, poor, religious and nonreligious, intellectuals, artists, factory workers, stay at home moms; it’s everyone. I love that. When I write and teach I am speaking to everyone.

Q

Are we able to influence our self-confidence in this time of global financial crisis? How?

A

You can influence your self-confidence regardless of the situation. Your self-confidence is exactly that, yours; it doesn't belong to situations. And situations only affect it if you let them. Both your self-image and your self-confidence are creations of your psyche. In Mind Power we work to harness the powers of our mind by working daily with our thoughts. Focus on your positive qualities. Focus on what talents and capabilities you have and how you can be creative and proactive in every situation. The real problem in times like these is that people become paralyzed with fear and act (or don’t act) accordingly. Fear is a most destructive energy, and attracts to it that which we fear. Or, to put it more simply, what you focus on you attract, whether this is positive or negative. You can be assured that many people will not only survive but prosper during these times. Times of great change create great opportunities, and it will be the brave and fearless who see the opportunities and take advantage of them. Mind Power teaches many techniques that harness the mind and make us strong and capable, able to handle all the situations that life presents us.

Q

What are you working on at the moment?

A

I am writing a new book. I took a three-year sabbatical from writing and teaching in 2002. When I came back in 2005 I began teaching what I had learned about listening and the subconscious. It was deep and profound, and in my workshops I shared these principles, and as I watched how my students reacted to this new system, I further developed it. It is very rewarding for me to work with people, and why I will never stop doing seminars. Even though my books reach millions more people than my seminars, you can’t beat the energy of a live event.

The new book is on the subconscious and how this powerhouse both influences and is influenced by the body, mind and soul. And again I have made it simple and easy to understand. I love simplicity and practicality. Every system must prove itself in the reality of day-to-day life. This is what I teach.

Q

I am 17 years old and at quite an advantage to have discovered your book at such an early age. It has changed my life in every aspect. Thank you very much, I am letting all of my friends read the book as well. I cannot explain the changes you've made in my life thus far. Thank you!

I am raised Christian, but have had my doubts about certain facts in the Bible. Everything I read in the Bible now, I try to think of what the meaning behind it is. To look beyond the litteral stories makes the Bible a whole lot more understandable for me. My question is, is Mind Power part of other religions? I have heard that Hinduism and Buddhism are based largely on this.

A

All the great religions have aspects of Mind Power as a foundation. They might not call it Mind Power, but the fact is that prayer, faith and the power of belief are all aspects of Mind Power under different terms, and all the religions have these elements as their core. I leave all spirituality out of my Mind Power teaching not because I am not spiritual, I am, but because I think each individual should choose their own spirituality according to their own heart and soul and whatever speaks to them as truth. Let me also add that you are right to question your faith, especially at your age, not because it is false but because by questioning you will come to understand it more deeply. If a teaching is true it will stand the test of sincere questioning, and you will be the better for it. I'm glad you've discovered this book and this website and I wish you well in your life's quest.

Q

I have read your book several times. I have followed the steps in creating a Mind Power program and have done the time I believe. I have done this all over several years and yet I still have issues that I have not been able to shift. Mostly they relate to envy of others. What should I do?

A

Envy is a destructive energy and as Mind Power practioners we avoid it. It is not a matter of a morality or doing the right thing for others and being happy for them when they succeed, but rather something far more basic and practical for our own self. When you understand energy and how it works both to our benefit and hinderance, you become vigilant in working only with energies that benefit you. For example, fear is always counter-productive because it attracts to us that which we fear. We may rationalize all we want about why our fear is appropriate in any given situation, and this may make a good argument, but fear still attracts to us that which we focus on. So too with envy. Envy is resenting a success in someone else. However the subconscious will pick up this resentment and interpret it as you "resenting success." If you vibrate resenting success your subconscious will assume you don't want success. Is this the imprint you want in your subconscious? So you eliminate envy by refusing to indulge in it. You might get over it by consciously deciding to align yourself with the energy of praise and acknowledgement and being happy for the person. By doing this you then attract that energy to you. Avoid envy; it is in the same league as fear and just as powerful.
