Monthly Mind Power Questions & Answers

September 2009

Q

Just wondering if you have a hardcover copy of your book released? My friend who introduced me to your wonderful book Mind Power into the 21st Century has worn through two of these books and would like a hardcover copy. I'd like to buy him one as a gift and would appreciate any feedback you can provide on my quest. Thank you and thanks as well for a truly awe-inspiriting book!

We have no hardcover copy of Mind Power but I am impressed that your friend has worn through two of these books. How often is he reading it? I have never had anyone share this before but well done on his part. I do want to remind everyone that Mind Power is a practice, not a philosophy, and these techniques must be practiced and not just read to get the true results. Practice the methods in the book and you will see astounding results in your life. Thanks for the feedback on the book.

Q

I think with a lot of us there are many problems in our life happening simultaneously. Perhaps our job AND our relationships AND money, etc. We are just not where we want to be. As far as our focus goes, should we pick one area to work on, or should our practice have a sort of general focus?

A

There is a mind power maxim that says, "You crawl before you walk and you walk before you run." If you try to work on everything at once you will often find the energy too scattered to be effective. It is better to work on one or two areas, then when you see success in these areas, you begin working on the others. Also success in any one area of your life will spill over into the others. Create a vibration of success and you will attract success. Nothing is more powerful in giving you the confidence to pursue with these methods than succeeding in one area where you have been doing mind power exercises. As you have also suggested, you can have a general focus where you see yourself successful, but don't try to do too many things at once, especially if you are new to these methods.

Q

Hi John, Not sure if you will see this as I do not have your email address, but I was amazed and still am amazed by your teachings in your last visit to Singapore. I'm "disciplining" my mind to listen and work on your Home Study Program (just started) and will persist to finish the program. Actually my purpose of writing to you is to wish you a HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY from Singapore, and may you be well and blessed.

I read all the emails that come to this site. I cannot possibly answer them all, but I do pick a selection to answer each month. I also vibrate a positive intention for each email I receive, directing it to the individual writer. This intention is a real force in the quantum reality of energy and has an effect, as all our thoughts and intentions do. Thanks for your kind wishes, and I have fond memories of my time in Singapore.

Q

Hello, John. Your books consist of great amounts of inspiring thoughts and ideas. The larger part of me says that your ideas are true, but another part that is smaller has some doubts. In practicing one of your techniques I meticulously repeat one thought at a time every day. I've noticed that I can repeat it and think about something alse. For example, I say: 'I'm healthy, I'm healthy, I'm healthy', and at the same time I can think about my plans for the day, about weather, about relationships. Is this right or wrong? Can you comment on this? Thanks for your answer.

It is only natural to have some doubts about the validity of this system until you have personally experienced some results. Results come with practice. The technique of repeating statements to yourself is called Affirmations. Affirmations are powerful because they do not need to be focused upon or said with faith or conviction. All you need to do is repeat them regularly. The subconscious mind naturally picks up the content of the message, and once it resides within the subconscious it will resonate and attract circumstances that align with this message. So thinking about something else while you are saying them is fine, as the subconscious is picking up the intent of the affirmation.

Q

At the moment my most topical question is related to competition. I don't know how to treat this issue. At present I believe that there is competition between people for material resources (jobs, places, money, materials, opportunities). From various media I read that there is quite a surplus in the workforce globally, and up to 90 percent of the entire population has nothing really important to do. So, if there is competition among people for limited resources, there are always losers. This means that I have quite a good chance of not succeeding at my goals of material sufficiency and professional achievement, regardless of how hard I work. Now this is discouraging. What's more, if I compete with others, it makes it hard, if not impossible, for me to love them. But, as everybody is important and we all belong to one system, how then can I at all compete with others? On the other hand, if I try to ignore the concept of competition (stressing self-development), I feel that I am temporarily deceiving myself, pretending that things are the way I want to see them. What is your opinion on competition and the way we should treat this phenomenon in pursuit of our goals? Is it okay to imprint just beliefs that exclude the idea of competition and stress self-development? Would you defend the idealistic point of view that everything is a mere description, so there can be no competition for the one who believes so? Or, perhaps, some more constructive and realistic attitude can be accepted? Is it possible to find beliefs that are both positive and supporting for my goals and based on some more or less true vision of how the world works? I think that a convincing personal position on this question, not just a convenient pretence, is needed for achieving success. Yours sincerely, Michael Chugunov.

You're thinking too much and tying yourself up with intellectual mumbo jumbo. Let's take a deep breath and start from some fundamental principles. One of my favorite affirmations is "My success helps many people; my failure helps no one." Think about it. When you are successful, your success allows you to spread success everywhere. If you have your own business, it allows you to expand and hire others. This helps them. Your purchases, both business and personal, help to fuel the economy and create even more jobs. Your success helps inspire those around you, and soon they begin to believe that they can be successful too. If you are socially conscious, and you should be, you can give money to charities or help fund worthwhile projects. Have a moral code and do good work. Forget all that other stuff. Become as successful as you possibly can and make a difference in the world.

Q

Hi John: I have practiced visualization for some time now but I still have difficulty visualizing the picture. It happens even with guided visualization tapes. I have no problem getting into a relaxed state and don't have the inner voice contradicting the picture. Yet I have the difficulty (despite being a visual person). Can you please advise. Thanks.

A

There are several things you should consider. Firstly, don't worry about getting perfect, movie-type quality pictures in your visualizations. Sometimes just the feelings with short little images can be equally as effective. When we strive for the images and try to force them, this contradicts the purpose of the exercise. Just relax and let the images naturally appear. Secondly, the images usually become clearer and more pronounced with repetition. The tenth time you visualize something it usually delivers an image stronger and clearly than the first time, so be persistent with the exercise. Thirdly, the feelings and emotions of "having what you want" are just as powerful as the images, so if the images don't come, then work with the feelings. Finally, recognize that Mind Power is a practice, and the more we do it the more adept we become. Don't give up prematurely on any one exercise. Practice it daily for a least a month before you make any real comments on whether it works for you or not. Often we practice it for a week or two and then, if it is still difficult, we give up. Be persistent and diligent and you will probably find that you can do it much better than you thought. If not, there are many other techniques you can apply to get results using the Mind Power Way.
